And so, after Houtu kicked Gungun into the Sea of Blood, he was forced to become River Styx's so-called bear servant, ordered about day in and day out. His life was too miserable to bear-or so Gungun himself thought, at least.
Three hundred years later.
Surrounded by several clusters of Red Lotus Karmic Fire that prevented him from sitting down, Gungun stood above the Sea of Blood, holding up the Bloodstone with both hands, his forehead covered in sweat. He... had not received a reward from the system in three whole centuries. Worse still, he was exhausted in body and mind. Boohoo~
"Hey, you stinking bear, how does it feel?" Just then, River Styx flew over, reclining on his side atop the Karmic Fire Red Lotus, and looked down at Gungun as he asked.
"It feels awful," Gungun answered honestly.
"Don't you feel that your body has grown a little stronger?"
"No. I feel like I could run out of strength at any moment and get crushed to death by this rock," Gungun said. Then he squeezed out a few tears, looking utterly pitiful.
"..." At the sight, even River Styx was speechless.
Crushed to death at any moment?
Please, you're a Great Immortal! Even with the restrictions I placed on the Bloodstone, you couldn't possibly give out after a mere three hundred years. What are you putting on this act for? And just what kind of god do you think I, Patriarch River Styx, am? You think I'd feel sorry for you? Heh, not a chance!
A mocking smile curled River Styx's lips. Then he opened his hand, and a spirit fruit appeared: a red Mandala Fruit, the same kind Ao Yue had given Gungun when he visited the Softbone Prairie to repay his kindness all those years ago.
