Suddenly, a hand seized Tongtian's arm, and killing intent spread through the air.
Chi Ya had awakened at some point. Seeing Tongtian about to act on him, he immediately reached out to stop him.
"What are you doing?"
Faced with Chi Ya's hostile gaze, Tongtian froze for a moment. The power of nothingness in his hand went out with a soft puff.
Seeing this, Bai Yushan hurriedly explained from beside them.
"Chi Ya, Sect Master Tongtian wanted to try using the power of nothingness to suppress your baleful energy."
"If it works, you might not only be freed from its torment, but even advance your cultivation another level!"
Hearing Bai Yushan's explanation, Chi Ya slowly loosened his grip, confusion still written across his face.
Chi Ya stood up, though the hostility in his eyes had faded somewhat.

As he spoke, Chi Ya scrutinized Tongtian warily, seemingly still worried that some scheme lay behind his actions. He simply could not bring himself to trust him.
Tongtian smiled helplessly. He had not expected Chi Ya to awaken at that very moment.
"Indeed, I'm still hesitant about whether to teach you the power of nothingness."
"Just now, I merely wanted to test whether it would be of any use to you. After all, we also have our own interests to consider."
