The crux of it was that he had originally intended to enter Prison Suppression through the Tyrant Blade Secret Realm, only to be sent straight in instead!
But after witnessing the harsh conditions within Prison Suppression,
Mietian came to believe that if he simply kept devouring these inferior Heavenly Demons, sooner or later the furious energy inside them would take control and consume him. He would end up little different from those Chaos Demons!
Although devouring alone advanced one's cultivation quickly, very few within Prison Suppression actually did it!
Even resigned to their slow cultivation progress, the many Heavenly Demons were still unwilling to casually devour other Heavenly Demons. There were simply too many impurities to digest!
Everyone who tried it ended up expelled from the cities, becoming Chaos Demons on the outskirts!
But that was not what Mietian sought!

but to cultivate the Dao realms, he had to be somewhere with a normal Heaven and Earth Great Dao, tempering his body with spiritual energy to drive out all the demonic qi embedded deep in his marrow!

so Mietian's current body could not practice dual cultivation of demonic and Dao paths at all unless it underwent tempering with spiritual energy!
