Copying Eye and Takamagahara

Hearing the system's warning, Qiu Shan Uchiha was surprised and a little speechless. He had never expected his Sharingan to reach the Mangekyō's limit so quickly.

Qiu Shan Uchiha rubbed his eyes, which still felt slightly swollen, and deactivated his Mangekyō Sharingan. His eyes returned to their inky black color.

Qiu Shan Uchiha blinked a few times to ease the soreness and irritation. It did not seem like a serious problem. Once his eyes adjusted, they would return to normal.

Then Qiu Shan Uchiha closed his eyes and examined his own Dōjutsu. (He could actually do it without closing his eyes, but that would make him look rather vacant.)

Sure enough, the Sharingan lived up to its name as the eye that reflected the heart. Awakening the Mangekyō required intense emotional upheaval in its wielder, such as a close relative's tragic death, the murder of a loved one, betrayal, and so on. Since most extreme emotional upheavals involved negative emotions, the Second Hokage had considered the Uchiha Clan an evil clan. The awakening of the Mangekyō Sharingan accompanied terrible events, which was why the Sharingan was called an ominous power.

But the Second Hokage had not thought deeply enough about it. Precisely because members of the Uchiha Clan loved so deeply, losing that love caused tremendous emotional upheaval and drove them to extremes.

The Sharingan was also called the eye that reflected the heart because it awakened a corresponding Dōjutsu based on the wielder's intense desire at the moment their Mangekyō Sharingan awakened.

For example, Obito had thought, I want to create a world with Rin in it, so he gained a space-time Dōjutsu. Shisui had wanted the village and his clan to coexist peacefully, so he awakened the ultimate genjutsu.

Following the system's prompts, Qiu Shan Uchiha had kept silently reinforcing the same suggestion in his mind. Sure enough, he had obtained the Dōjutsu he wanted—Copying Eye.

It had the same name and roughly the same functions as the Dōjutsu Qiu Shan Uchiha had previously made up to fool Shisui Uchiha.

Perhaps because of the system, however, the Dōjutsu he awakened could no longer copy Mangekyō Dōjutsu. In exchange, its ability to copy other kekkei genkai had reached an unexpectedly powerful limit.

Now, wherever he directed his Mangekyō Sharingan, he could see through false appearances and perceive the underlying essence. Whether it was a kekkei genkai, a secret technique, or a ninjutsu beyond an ordinary person's ability to learn, he could copy it as long as he had enough time or witnessed it being performed.

Although the Dōjutsu was powerful and had a broad range of applications, it still had limitations.

He could not copy an unlimited number of kekkei genkai. Aside from his own Sharingan kekkei genkai, Qiu Shan Uchiha could copy six others. That was the limit of his Mangekyō Sharingan, though the number would probably increase once he upgraded it to the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan or the Rinnegan.

In fact, kekkei genkai had their own tiers. Hashirama Senju's Wood Release, the Uchiha's Sharingan, the old Tsuchikage's Dust Release, and Mizukage Mei Terumi's Lava Release and Boil Release all belonged to the highest tier. Gekko Hayate's Transparent Release and Pakura of Sunagakure's Scorch Release ranked slightly below Wood Release, Dust Release, and the like. Of course, there were no useless kekkei genkai, only useless people. Even if you possessed Wood Release, could you guarantee you would become the next Hashirama Senju?

The limitation of this Dōjutsu was that it could not copy kekkei genkai of a higher tier than itself. (Of course, in the current Naruto world, we could treat this limitation as nonexistent, since no kekkei genkai of a higher tier than the Sharingan had appeared yet.)

Qiu Shan Uchiha's Mangekyō Sharingan was different from his previous Three-Tomoe Sharingan. As a Dōjutsu awakened by a higher-level Sharingan, it could copy virtually every kekkei genkai, secret technique, and ninjutsu in the Shinobi World and allow him to use them himself.

When Qiu Shan Uchiha reached this point, he nearly jumped for joy. The Shinobi World contained not only plenty of kekkei genkai that even he coveted, but also many powerful ninjutsu that a Three-Tomoe Sharingan alone could not copy and learn.

Examples included the Raikage's series of body-enhancing Lightning Release techniques, the old Tsuchikage's Light-Weight Rock Technique-a flight ninjutsu, something relatively rare throughout the Shinobi World-and the Fourth Hokage's signature Flying Thunder God. Qiu Shan Uchiha had coveted all of these ninjutsu for a long time.

These ninjutsu were either closely guarded secrets of other ninja villages or had stringent learning requirements that demanded exceptional talent.

With his Mangekyō Dōjutsu, however, Qiu Shan Uchiha could easily learn them simply by seeing them. Each of these ninjutsu could rival a kekkei genkai, and learning any one of them would greatly improve his chances of survival.

Moreover, every technique he learned was a gain. Since these ninjutsu were not kekkei genkai, there was no limit to how many he could acquire. They would not conflict with one another, either, and could complement each other.

And secret techniques-didn't Konoha have plenty of those? The most famous and outstanding example would have to be the Ino-Shika-Cho combination. Of the three clans' secret techniques, only the Akimichi Clan's involved Yang Release chakra, making them difficult for Qiu Shan Uchiha to learn for now. The rest, whether the Nara Clan's Shadow Imitation Technique series or the Yamanaka Clan's Mind Body Switch Technique, should be easy for him to copy with his abundant yin release chakra.

Furthermore, if an enemy specialized in an escape ninjutsu or secret technique, they might escape from him once, but they would not escape a second time. He would already have seen through their ninjutsu during their first escape.

As the Saints said, "You can never defeat me twice with the same move."

Qiu Shan Uchiha was very satisfied with this Dōjutsu. He did not lack powerful ninjutsu at this point. For genjutsu, he had the strongest of all, Kotoamatsukami. For physical attacks, he could pilot a giant mech—Susanoo. What he needed now was precisely a Dōjutsu like this, one that could shore up his shortcomings and give him a wider variety of options. Only by addressing his shortcomings, or rather his weaknesses, could he go farther down the path of a ninja.

Next, Qiu Shan Uchiha examined the Dōjutsu in his other Mangekyō eye.

The Dōjutsu—Takamagahara—was a space-time Dōjutsu, a type that had always been rare within the Uchiha Clan. Like Kamui, Takamagahara was a space-time Dōjutsu that connected to an island in an unknown dimension.

Qiu Shan Uchiha could travel to the island in that dimension simply by activating the Dōjutsu. Unlike the Kamui Dimension, this dimension had day and night. The island had water sources and plants, but no animals.

The difference between Takamagahara and Kamui was that Takamagahara did not grant intangibility. In other words, it did not allow him to place part of his body inside the dimension when he was attacked.

Compared with Kamui, however, Takamagahara allowed him to place Space Marks using his Sharingan. These marks were invisible and could be placed on physical objects or in empty space. Wherever a Space Mark existed, Qiu Shan Uchiha could arrive in an instant, no matter how far away it was. It was even more convenient than Flying Thunder God.
