When Shin Uchiha heard Konan's words, he said meaningfully, "Do you really know nothing about bringing the dead back to life?"
Alarm bells rang in Konan's mind at his words. How could she miss what the man before her was implying? She did indeed know someone who possessed the power to resurrect the dead, but how had the Uchiha Clan Leader learned about something like that?
Still, Konan had lived through countless wars. Although Shin Uchiha's words shocked her deeply, she betrayed nothing. Instead, she frowned and said, "Uchiha Clan Leader, what do you mean by that? If I knew another way to resurrect someone, would I have risked my life to come looking for you on the strength of a single remark?"
Shin Uchiha did not grow angry at her response. Instead, he clapped softly and said admiringly:
"As expected of Akatsuki's representative. That composure alone is something most people could never achieve. Jiraiya's painstaking efforts to train you weren't wasted. Even if things took an unexpected turn, you're still a rare talent."
Hearing that, Konan could no longer maintain her composure. "How do you know about our relationship with Master Jiraiya?" she exclaimed.
With those words, she had admitted that Shin Uchiha was right.
Shin Uchiha thought, Not only do I know about your relationship with Jiraiya, I even know what your everyday lives together were like.
But revealing all that would be far too shocking. Shin Uchiha did not explain further and changed the subject instead.
"It isn't hard to find out whether I can resurrect Yahiko, because I know another method of resurrection that you can trust. The price of that method, however, is much higher."
Konan regretted mentioning Master Jiraiya, but when Shin Uchiha did not pursue the matter, she breathed a sigh of relief.
