Shin Uchiha knew the chances of finding Haku were slim, but he had still clung to a little hope and asked Shisui Uchiha to keep an eye out. He had never expected him to actually find him.
Shisui Uchiha explained, "Under Kirigakure's influence, people in the Land of Water have become very hostile toward ninja. Their feelings toward anyone with a Kekkei Genkai go as far as outright hatred. Because the villages here are so close to Kirigakure, that influence is especially strong."
"This little boy with the Ice Release Kekkei Genkai is one example. His mother was probably a member of Kirigakure's Yuki Clan who escaped when the village wiped out her clan. She settled in that village, lived as an ordinary person, married, and had a child.
"No one expected her child to inherit Ice Release too, or for it to be discovered. Her husband led the villagers in an attempt to beat them both to death. The child probably snapped when his mother was killed, causing his Kekkei Genkai to run wild. He killed everyone there and fled the village."
After saying this, Shisui Uchiha paused before continuing, "Haku is a poor child too. Clan Leader, are you planning to bring him back to the clan?"
Shin Uchiha glanced at the concern on Shisui's face and the calm expression of Uchiha Itachi beside him, then nodded. "Kirigakure has already wiped out the Yuki Clan. This child may well be the sole remaining heir to Ice Release. Ice Release is fairly powerful, and it's particularly useful for sealing.
"Once our Uchiha Clan becomes independent, we'll need some support too. So I plan to take him in as a retainer and see whether he might prove useful in the future."
Shisui Uchiha nodded in understanding. The possibility had occurred
