In a cave without a trace of light, Obito Uchiha sat forlornly at the feet of the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path. No one knew what he was thinking, but his eyes were filled with confusion and despair.
Beside him were a grim-faced Black Zetsu and an endlessly chattering White Zetsu. Here in the cave, they had temporarily separated.
White Zetsu kept pacing in circles, crying out, "That shouldn't be possible! It shouldn't be possible! How could Shin Uchiha see through our Impersonation Technique? It shouldn't be possible! It shouldn't be possible!"
Looking at the pacing White Zetsu and the brooding Obito Uchiha, Black Zetsu once again wondered whether he could really rely on this lot to resurrect Madara Uchiha and undo the sealing on his mother, Kaguya Ōtsutsuki.
Black Zetsu waited a while, but when White Zetsu kept circling without end, he grew irritated and snapped,
"Stop pacing in circles. White Zetsu's impersonation of the Fourth Mizukage, the Three-Tails' Jinchūriki, had flaws to begin with. Shin Uchiha is no pushover, either. It's entirely possible he saw through it."
At Black Zetsu's words, realization dawned on White Zetsu, and he jumped up. "That's right! The Fourth Mizukage is a Jinchūriki. He has two kinds of chakra in his body. I only absorbed and imitated the Fourth Mizukage's chakra, but I overlooked the Three-Tails' chakra. Mm-hmm, I'll remember that next time."
Hearing this, Black Zetsu felt utterly drained and burst out furiously, "Idiot! The Fourth Mizukage has already escaped our control. What next time?"
White Zetsu froze briefly at Black Zetsu's scolding, then hung his head dejectedly. "Right, we've already lost control of that Fourth Mizukage. If Madara finds out, he'll definitely call me an idiot." He then crouched in a corner and fell silent.
