Shin Uchiha shook his head in amusement at Tazuna's naive words and posed a question:
"Mr. Tazuna, suppose Gato seized control of the Great Bridge after you finished building it. What would you do then? Could the people on your island fight off his wandering samurai?"
At Shin Uchiha's words, the hopeful smile on Tazuna's face froze.
Slowly, panic crept into Tazuna's eyes. He looked at Shin Uchiha in alarm, only now realizing how much he had taken for granted. With no idea what to do, he could only turn to the person he trusted most.
Tazuna knew perfectly well that the man before him was the one in charge of everyone present. If building the Great Bridge would not work, what could they possibly do to escape Gato's control?
Seeing that Tazuna understood, Shin Uchiha nodded and reassured him:
"Don't worry. Knowing Gato, he'll never let you finish the Great Bridge. Just go ahead and organize the residents to build it. I'll have Kakashi and the others protect you."
Gato had taken control of the island to build a concealed factory and transit hub where he could secretly transport his contraband and drugs.
If the island had a Great Bridge leading straight to the mainland, it would attract plenty of visitors, and his base would lose its purpose.
So, to achieve his goal, Gato would never allow the Great Bridge to be completed.
As the Great Bridge's designer, builder, and project leader, Kadzuna's importance went without saying.
As long as Kakashi and the others kept Tazuna safe, Gato's men would keep coming to make trouble for them, practically delivering bundles of experience to their doorstep. They would provide just the right challenge for these newly graduated Shinobi.
Kakashi immediately understood Lord Shin's intentions and added:
"Rest assured, Mr. Tazuna.
