• Madara Uchiha pulled Jiraiya toward him and began absorbing his chakra with the Preta Path.
• Jiraiya revealed that Madara had grabbed a Shadow Clone covered in Explosive Tags, which detonated.
• The real Jiraiya concluded that the explosion would only buy him time and identified his opponent as Madara Uchiha.

Jiraiya summoned Sage Shima and Sage Fukasaku to help him fight Madara Uchiha, who possessed both the Rinnegan and the protection of Impure World Reincarnation. Jiraiya began gathering nature energy as Madara discovered that he had seized Tobirama Senju's shadow clone instead.

Konan, Nagato, and Yahiko sensed a battle of immense power near Amegakure and worried that Madara Uchiha had come looking for them. As the disturbance intensified, they turned to Yahiko for a decision.

• Konan, Nagato, and Yahiko felt the distant force of Jiraiya and Madara Uchiha's battle while they sat together in a secluded house.
• Nagato sensed an unusual disturbance near Amegakure, and Konan flew out to investigate.
• Konan spotted a red flash and sensed two fighters with chakra at least at peak Kage level, but could not identify them from so far away.
• Nagato suggested that Madara Uchiha might be one of the fighters, recalling that Madara had implanted the Rinnegan in him.
• Nagato and Konan asked Yahiko what they should do, as an even more powerful surge and strong wind swept over them.

Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan discussed the powerful newcomers fighting in Amegakure and decided to investigate. Konan flew toward the village, keeping Shin’s teleportation mark as a safeguard and hoping not to call on him.

• Yahiko remarked that the two newcomers seemed stronger than Nagato had been at his peak.
• Nagato admitted that even with the Rinnegan, he might not have been able to match their power.
• Yahiko reassured Nagato that he preferred seeing him healthy and teased Konan about the price she had paid to restore him.
• Yahiko said they should meet their guests and rely on Shin’s Space Marks if they were in danger.

Jiraiya and Gamabunta attacked Madara Uchiha with fire and senjutsu techniques, but Madara countered with Wood Release and remained unharmed. Sage Shima and Sage Fukasaku joined Jiraiya’s assault with Toad Chant.

• Jiraiya and Gamabunta unleashed Toad Oil Flame Bullet at Madara Uchiha, who emerged from the flames without a scratch.
• Gamabunta warned Jiraiya to flee, but Jiraiya refused and said the Rinnegan made escape impossible.

Jiraiya attacked Madara Uchiha with a massive Sage Art Rasengan after Madara killed the two Toad Sages. Madara summoned his Susanoo to meet the attack, and their clash ended in a huge explosion.

Madara Uchiha defeated Jiraiya but honored his promise to concede after Jiraiya damaged his Susanoo and right hand. He then attacked Jiraiya with Light Fang, leaving Jiraiya fatally wounded.

• Madara Uchiha dispelled Susanoo and knocked Jiraiya away as Jiraiya tried to attack with his last Rasengan.

Madara Uchiha killed Jiraiya and was confronted by Konan, Nagato, and Yahiko. He questioned how Nagato had obtained his Mangekyō Sharingan, while beginning to suspect the truth.

• Madara Uchiha blasted Jiraiya into the ground with Storm Release and prepared to leave.
• Konan arrived and mourned Jiraiya, whom she regarded as her teacher.
• Nagato and Yahiko appeared between Konan and Madara Uchiha, ready to fight.
• Yahiko demanded to know who Madara Uchiha was and why he had killed Jiraiya.
• Madara Uchiha asked Nagato who had given him his Mangekyō Sharingan and began piecing together what had happened.

Madara Uchiha demanded to know how Nagato obtained the Uchiha Clan's Mangekyō Sharingan and summoned Susanoo to attack the group. Yahiko chose to hold Madara off while Konan sought help from Shin Uchiha, hoping he could bring Jiraiya back to life.

• Madara Uchiha confronted Nagato about possessing the Uchiha Clan's Mangekyō Sharingan, and Yahiko stepped forward to protect his companions.
• Yahiko blamed Madara Uchiha for killing Jiraiya and vowed that they would make him pay.
• Madara Uchiha summoned Susanoo and threatened to take back the Sharingan and kill the group.
• Yahiko told Konan to ask Shin Uchiha for help, then charged Madara Uchiha as he began forming hand seals.

After Madara Uchiha killed Jiraiya, Konan and Yahiko recognized him as the legendary Madara and realized they needed Shin Uchiha’s help. Yahiko and Nagato confronted Madara with Susanoo, but Madara began strengthening his own giant and challenged Nagato to endure the strain of the Sharingan.

• Yahiko reminded Konan to stay composed, and she sent a Paper Clone to follow Nagato while preparing to contact Shin Uchiha.
• Konan and the others identified their opponent as Madara Uchiha and concluded that seeking Shin’s help was their best option.
• Yahiko called for Nagato to use Susanoo after his Wind Blade failed to harm Madara’s giant.
• Nagato formed a red Susanoo and clashed with Madara Uchiha’s dark blue Susanoo, sending Yahiko and Konan’s clone flying.
• Madara Uchiha reinforced and enlarged his Susanoo with his Rinnegan, warning Nagato that the Sharingan could exhaust him or go blind.

Madara Uchiha attacked Nagato with his complete Susanoo, but Shin Uchiha intervened with Wood Release and rescued Konan. Shin reassured her that he would revive Jiraiya, and Konan urgently told him Yahiko was still on the battlefield.
