Ramsay frowned.
He had seen that thing.
A monster taller than any human he had ever seen, carrying a thick tree trunk, had smashed a gap in his shield wall with a single blow.
The thing swung again, sending several Bolton soldiers flying, shields and all.
"What is that thing?" he asked quietly.
No one could answer him.
The officers beside him had gone pale as well, staring speechlessly at the giant rampaging before their lines.
Fortunately... there was only one monster like that.
Terrifying as it looked, the casualties it inflicted were actually limited.
Ramsay watched coldly as the giant swung his enormous wooden club. Soldiers fell with every blow, but when he counted them, there were only a dozen or so.
For an army of five thousand, that loss was hardly worth mentioning.
The real problem was the wildlings-they were trying to pour through the gap the giant had opened.
"Archers," Ramsay said without turning.
Behind him, more than two hundred Bolton archers immediately stepped forward and drew their longbows.
The officer leading them glanced at the melee below and hesitated. "My lord... they're too close to our men. We'll hit them too."
Ramsay turned and looked at him expressionlessly.
The officer shuddered. Without another word, he swept his hand down. "Loose!"
Bowstrings thrummed.
More than two hundred arrows whistled out, arcing through the air before descending on the giant's position.
The rain of arrows fell.
Some embedded themselves in the giant's arms and shoulders, drawing a furious roar from him.
But others struck the Bolton soldiers fighting him. One soldier was thrusting his spear at the giant's calf when an arrow suddenly pierced the back of his neck. His eyes widened, and he died without ever understanding why the arrow had come from behind.
More arrows fell
