First Battle with an Other

Benjen and his two companions hid behind an enormous tree trunk, watching Caste's strange behavior up ahead.

Just then, they felt the temperature around them plummet. A chill seeped into their bones, utterly unlike the ordinary cold beyond the Wall. This cold carried the breath of death, as though it could freeze their souls.

At the same time, a humanoid figure slowly emerged from the shadows at the edge of the clearing.

Only when it stepped out of the shadows could they make out its appearance. It looked like a tall, gaunt man, clad in ancient armor covered in frost. Under the moonlight, the armor gleamed with an eerie blue chill.

Its skin was blue, with the pallor of a corpse, and it was so thin that the veins beneath its skin were visible.

Most unnerving of all, however, were its eyes. Like two burning Ice Blue flames, they stood out sharply in the darkness. Its gaze was cold and empty, devoid of any emotion belonging to a living being.

An Other.

Hidden behind the tree, Benjen and his companions held their breath. Though none of them had ever seen one, they all reached the same conclusion: that was an Other. Every legend and tale described those eyes.

Though they had come out to find the Others and had prepared themselves mentally, suddenly seeing this legendary being still sent a chill rushing through them. Benjen's hand instinctively pressed against his sword hilt.

The Other walked up to the infant, and they were just about to see what it would do next.

Without warning, the Other fixed its Ice Blue eyes on their hiding place. Under that gaze, Alyn instinctively took a step back.

"We've been spotted!" Benjen roared, knowing there was no point in hiding anymore. "Let's save that child
