Clang! He precisely knocked aside the fastest ice spear, which had been aimed at his heart, while twisting backward and sideways with incredible flexibility and speed. The other two spears grazed past his cloak and breastplate, leaving only a cloud of frost without harming him in the slightest.
Despite Viserys's warning, Benjen failed to avoid the two attacks aimed at him. The first struck his abdomen and pierced straight through. The second drove into his chest, penetrating leather armor and flesh, its bloodstained point emerging from his back. Its tremendous momentum pinned him to the ground.
"Lord Benjen!" Ignoring his own wounds, Alyn shouted desperately and lunged toward him.
Almost at the very instant the ice spears flew toward Viserys, a brilliant golden light suddenly illuminated the night sky above the castle.
