The next morning, Viserys was studying a map in his study, still carefully considering his marching routes, when the door gently opened.

Daenerys stood in the doorway, her eyes still a little red and swollen as she looked at him timidly.

"Brother."

Viserys looked up at her and beckoned. She came in and stopped before him, her head lowered.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have lost my temper yesterday."

Viserys reached out and pulled her onto his lap.

"How could I blame you?"

Daenerys leaned against him and said softly, "Rhaenys talked to me last night, and I've thought it through. I know you want what's best for me. I'll stay here and wait for you all to come back."

Viserys stroked her head.

"Once I take the Iron Throne, I'll bring you with me wherever I go."

Only then did Daenerys smile.

That night, someone knocked on the study door again.

The candlelight flickered as Kinvara entered. She wore dark red priestess robes, and her expression was more solemn than usual.

"Your Majesty," she said with a bow. Even though their relationship had become something more, she still could not quite relax around him.

Viserys put down the document in his hand.

"Coming to see me so late-are you here to share my bed?"

Kinvara approached his desk and looked at him with a trace of exasperation in her blue eyes.

"The flame has granted me another revelation."

"Tell me." Viserys set aside what he was holding and motioned for her to sit.

Kinvara remained standing and began at once. "I saw the shadows of dragons cover all of Westeros. They flew in from the east, and dragonfire engulfed King's Landing, Casterly Rock, Storm's End, and the Iron Islands."

She paused, her voice deepening. "I saw a golden lion howling
