The morning at the Red Keep was fairly quiet. As she passed the King's Tower, she stopped and looked up toward Viserys's study.
Its windows were open too, and she could vaguely make out figures moving inside and hear voices drifting out. She could not tell what they were saying, but she knew Viserys was in there, perhaps discussing affairs with his ministers.
She stood there for a while before turning away with a smile. Her steps seemed much lighter than before, like a little doe that had finally found a place to call home.
Life in the Red Keep passed like this, day after day, peaceful and secure.
Roslin attended her lessons punctually every day, studying court etiquette, the history of House Targaryen, and High Valyrian.
She learned quickly and applied herself diligently. Even Daenerys could not help praising her intelligence, saying it would not be long before they could converse in High Valyrian.
Sometimes Daenerys would take her by the hand and lead her to the square to see the dragons, patiently telling her each dragon's name and habits. Those ancient legends came alive on Daenerys's lips, just as they had when she had done the same for Arya.
Roslin occasionally took walks in the gardens as well. Sometimes she would meet Sansa, and the two girls would chat for a while.
Sansa taught her how to prune flowering branches, while she taught Sansa how to identify the flowers and plants brought from the Riverlands. They sat beneath a vine-covered pavilion, sharing treats from their respective homelands.
Viserys continued to handle the affairs of the Iron Throne every day. Occasionally, he made extra time to spend with Daenerys and Rhaenys, went to the training ground to guide Arya in her sword practice, or knocked on Roslin's door late
