Daenerys stood opposite them, her silver hair still slightly tousled. She had clearly just woken up and had yet to finish washing and dressing.
Her purple eyes stayed fixed on Viserys, her lips pressed tightly together and her hands clasped before her. Although she had prepared herself for this, seeing Viserys and the others about to leave still made her reluctant to part with them, leaving an emptiness in her heart.
"Dany, don't worry. We'll be back soon." Viserys walked over and gently ruffled her tousled hair, his voice full of affection. "While you're in King's Landing, remember to keep Sansa and Arya safe. Don't let anyone with ill intentions get to them."
"And Roslin," Daenerys could not help reminding him quietly.
"Yes, and Roslin." Viserys smiled and drew her into his arms. Feeling her shoulders tremble slightly, he said gently, "When I return this time, I'll take you north on dragonback to see the Wall."
"Really?" Daenerys lifted her head in his arms, a spark of light flashing in her eyes.
"Of course. I won't break my promise this time." Viserys released her and kissed her forehead.
Looking at the dense crowd around them, Daenerys flushed slightly and took a step back. "Then go. I'll wait for you here in King's Landing."
Viserys nodded and pulled her back into his arms. Rhaenys came over as well and gently patted her back, and the three shared a brief embrace.
Roslin stood at the corner of the gate, quietly watching. A trace of envy flashed in her blue eyes. How she wished she could be like them and stand at Viserys's side.
But she lacked the courage to approach and only watched from a distance, her hands unconsciously twisting the hem of her skirt until the fabric was creased.
