Viserys watched the two dragon silhouettes disappear before slowly turning around. He raised a hand to beckon the women gathered nearby, telling them to ready their hunting gear.
Then he said, "Blackflame and Acmot went straight south along this path just now. Any game along the way has probably already been startled and fled, so we'll follow this old hunting trail east first and skirt around this area."
Besides, the eastern grounds were no worse than the central area. The trees were sparse and the grass lush, and in previous years, plenty of plump deer and wild boars had been spotted there. It was an ideal hunting ground.
"The woods here are much denser than the forests Beyond the Wall and in the North, and they look much greener too."
Just after entering the Kingswood, Ygritte looked over the surrounding trees and could not help saying, "Even the smell is different. The woods Beyond the Wall smell of pine resin and moss. Here, it's all damp earth and green leaves. It feels full of life."
Viserys smiled at her words and slowed his pace to walk beside her. "The south's climate is naturally milder and wetter than the North or Beyond the Wall. Our Targaryen royal house also tended this Kingswood carefully for hundreds of years, so of course it brims with life."
"But the game in these southern woods isn't as plump as in the north. The boars and deer in the Wolfswood and the Haunted Forest are a good deal bigger than the ones here. Still, the game in the Kingswood has a distinctive flavor. You can try it later."
As he spoke, Viserys turned to Daenerys, who stood beside him with a wary expression. "Once we're in the woods, stay close to me and don't wander off.
