The attendants in charge of tallying the supplies were loading the remaining game Viserys and the others had caught the day before onto the wagons, while murmured conversations rose and fell throughout the camp.
After returning, Ygritte shook the water from her hands and glanced at the Gold Cloaks dismantling the tents. Suddenly, she said to Viserys beside her, "Next time we come, I hope we can stay a little longer instead of rushing off like we are today. Ever since I came south of the Wall, I haven't had a proper chance to enjoy myself."
Viserys chuckled, his voice carrying a reassuring note. "Once this crisis with the Cold God is over, we can spend every day traveling around Westeros. By then, the game in the Kingswood should be at its fattest, too. It'll be a good season for a hunt."
He paused before continuing, "And I can take you to see the Valyrian Peninsula then, too. After these past few years of nurturing, its forest has grown larger than the Wolfswood in the North. There are also magical creatures living there, which makes it more interesting than the forests here in Westeros."
Ygritte's eyes lit up at his words, and her brows, still carrying a hint of wildness, rose high. "The Valyrian Peninsula? Is that the land where you stayed before, Your Majesty?"
"When I was staying at Castle Black, I often heard your grandfather, Maester Aemon, talk about that place. I never imagined a wasteland that had been cursed for centuries could grow a forest like that again. And there are lots of magical creatures, too?"
Although the Wolfswood had nothing particularly remarkable about it, nor any especially formidable beasts, it was the largest forest in all of Westeros.
Viserys nodded at Ygritte's words. "Grandfather Aemon was
