Daenerys looked past Margaery toward the fields behind her, remembering the sight she had seen from King Ghidorah's back that day, which had left her rather awestruck.
She fell silent for a moment before saying with a hint of teasing, "You talk about what comes next and tomorrow's plans as though this were already settled. I may have agreed, but my brother hasn't given his approval yet."
"Or are you planning to take him along to the rose baths and talk him around there? Well, if that really is your plan, you've certainly chosen the right approach. My brother is bound to agree after all your vigorous persuasion."
"Of course." Margaery laughed, her tone light and utterly unembarrassed. "Don't worry. I certainly won't put you in an awkward position. And who knows? This might even bring you and him closer together."
There was not the slightest trace of mockery in Margaery's voice. She sounded as though she were discussing something perfectly ordinary, which only made Daenerys feel shy. Yet a hint of anticipation showed in her eyes.
Just then, for reasons neither of them knew, the scattered chatter and laughter in the hall suddenly faded. Lords and knights near and far hurriedly broke off their conversations and turned toward the seat of honor. Daenerys and Margaery also turned their eyes to Viserys.
In truth, Viserys did not know what had happened either. Until then, most of his attention had been focused on using his mental power to probe all of Highgarden.
The godswood within Highgarden made this easy for Viserys. Through its three enormous weirwoods-the three heart trees-he had even glimpsed fragments of Highgarden's history.
But now that everyone's eyes were on him, he had no intention of wasting the opportunity or waiting for someone from House Tyrell to call
