Daenerys was still burying her face against his back, trying to find a better angle so the night wind blowing toward them would no longer lash straight across her cheeks.

At the sound of Viserys's voice, she froze as though someone had pressed pause. She stopped shifting and merely tightened her arms around his waist without realizing it.

"I wasn't fidgeting, brother. I was just trying to help you see if there were any Ironborn down below," she said softly, a hint of explanation for her earlier movements in her voice.

Viserys said nothing more. He simply turned his head and cast another look at the reefs below.

By then, King Ghidorah had descended considerably, and the black reefs near the cavern were slowly emerging in the moonlight, like a half-open mouth.

He had King Ghidorah slow down and glide almost against the sea's surface, making one last half circuit of the cove. His gaze and his senses kept sweeping back and forth over the reefs and the cavern entrance.

Only after confirming that the iron ships that had ventured out earlier were all back inside the cavern, and that no new vessels were approaching from any other direction, did he have King Ghidorah close in.

"Dany, why haven't you asked me why I've stayed here all this time?" Viserys suddenly asked.

Daenerys hesitated, then shook her head. Without looking up, she kept her face pressed against his back and said in a muffled voice, "I didn't see anything myself, but I know you must have found something, brother. Otherwise, you wouldn't have circled this place so many times. At all the places before this, you left after one look."

Daenerys trusted that Viserys would not circle this dark stretch of sea for no reason.
