Daenerys rested her hand lightly in the crook of Viserys's arm without saying a word. She simply stayed quietly at his side, occasionally glancing up at Acmot as the dragon folded its wings nearby.

When neither of them answered for some time, Earl Wyman offered another ingratiating smile through his panting breaths, the fat on his cheeks trembling slightly. "At least allow White Harbor to prepare a hot meal for you both, and let you rest your feet. You have come all this way north; we can hardly let you leave on empty stomachs. The North is bitterly cold. No matter how urgently you need to travel, you must not catch a chill."

As he spoke, another sea breeze blew in from the harbor, carrying a strong smell of salt and fish, along with the faint cries that had begun sounding again in the distant fish market.

Viserys drew his gaze back and nodded to Wyman. "Since Earl Wyman has already made the arrangements, we will spend tonight at the New Castle."

With that, he swung himself down from King Ghidorah in one swift movement. Daenerys slid down after him, briefly leaning on his arm for support.

King Ghidorah tucked her wings in and backed away a few steps to clear a path for them. Her enormous claws left several deep gouges in the open ground, and her two tails swept slowly across it. They raised little dust, but still made several nearby attendants instinctively shrink back.

Viserys reflected that he and Daenerys had already caused quite a stir above White Harbor. Most people at the harbor probably knew they had arrived, and sooner or later he would meet everyone he needed to see. There was no need to hurry.

Besides, his mental power had already detected several familiar presences
