Viserys and Daenerys traveled north to search for the Horn of Winter and the Greenseer, encountering wights and a powerful Other in the Haunted Forest. Viserys found the Greenseer’s presence in ancient ruins and began bargaining with trapped beings for knowledge of the Cold God and the Night’s King.

• Viserys and Daenerys left White Harbor, met the fugitive Lorne at Long Lake, and sent him north to join the Night’s Watch after hearing of Ramsay Bolton’s brutality.
• Ramsay tried to kidnap Val, but the Free Folk ambushed his men, and Roger Bolton later promised Val that the remaining soldiers would not attack her people.
• Robb sent Jon to garrison Long Night Castle, while Viserys and Daenerys flew north past the Wall to search for the Horn of Winter.
• Viserys found dragonglass weapons at the Fist of the First Men but no horn, then stayed at Caste's Castle and learned from Davy Waters about wights near the Haunted Forest and Bloodraven’s vanished expedition.
• Viserys and Daenerys entered the Haunted Forest, where King Ghidorah destroyed wights and Viserys pursued a powerful Other toward an ancient clearing.
• Viserys recognized the mist-covered ruins as a Children of the Forest altar and heard a disembodied voice call him “one who does not exist.”
• Viserys explored the ruins’ memories, found the Greenseer within a weirwood’s roots, and learned how the first Other had been created and the Old Gods sealed beneath the land.
• Viserys negotiated with the trapped beings for knowledge of the Cold God and the Night’s King, and they showed him an ice throne beneath an eternal blizzard.

Viserys secured the Horn of Winter from Brynden Raven and prepared Castle Black for the Night’s King’s growing threat, while learning more about Daenerys’s bond with her dragons. He also began investigating erased histories and House Stark’s possible secrets, seeking knowledge and leverage as the Long Night approached.

• Viserys learned from the Old Gods’ apparition that the Heart of Death could not be destroyed and that the Night’s King had been made its vessel.
• Viserys and Daenerys found Brynden Raven in the weirwood, and Viserys traded an offer to free him for the Horn of Winter and help with Bran’s training.
• Viserys and Daenerys left the Greenseer’s refuge, burned hidden Others and wights, and discussed Daenerys’s need to deepen her bond with one dragon.
• Viserys reached Castle Black with Daenerys and the dragons, where Beric Dondarrion reported blood-red runes and Viserys ordered preparations against the Others.
• Viserys and Daenerys met Maester Aemon, and Samwell Tarly’s records led them to conclude that the Night’s King was using human sacrifices to create more Others.
• Viserys confirmed he had the Horn of Winter and planned to keep it at Castle Black, while Aemon warned of its danger and recalled Brynden Raven’s history.
• Viserys sensed the Wall’s tremors and learned from Sam and Aemon that records of the Long Night had been altered, possibly concealing House Stark’s role.
• Viserys ordered Sam to seek forbidden Citadel books and investigate discreetly, then told Daenerys they could use Stark secrets to secure the North through Arya and Sansa.
