Rhaenyra shook the half-empty Linen Bag in her hand and offered her own "excuse." "I brought some food out to feed Syrax and have a look around. I thought I'd take a walk while I was at it." As she spoke, she fished a Honey Biscuit out of the bag, stuffed it into her mouth, and chewed hard twice, as though the biscuit owed her something.
She looked at the pair who had been "sneaking snacks" behind her back-even though she was clearly sneaking snacks too. But her snacking was a way to clear her head, while theirs was "betrayal."
Rhaenyra felt deeply "betrayed." Still, at least these two had not been indulging behind her back in anything else they should not have been. Otherwise, she might really have unleashed the "Sleeping Dragon's Wrath" right there.
Yet as they talked, Laena casually rested her delicate hand on Aegon's shoulder.
Her fingers were long and warm. Through the thin fabric of his deep-black velvet formal attire, Aegon could distinctly feel the warmth of her fingertips.
