Son Goku landed beside the others, carrying the unconscious Kakarot.
Whis extended his Divine Staff and tapped Kakarot, enveloping him in a gentle green light.
A moment later, Kakarot regained consciousness.
Beerus looked at Kakarot, then at Son Goku, and asked, "You're both Son Goku, so why is there such a huge gap between you?"
Son Goku smiled. "Lord Beerus, Kakarot and Vegeta thought the Saiyan bloodline reached a dead end at Super Saiyan 3, so they switched to cultivating divine power. That left the potential of their bloodline untapped. I'm different. I cultivated both, which gave me the strength I have today."
Beerus nodded. "Your strength really has surpassed mine. The me in your world got ridiculously lucky, finding a candidate like you."
Whis asked, "Son Goku, who taught you your Divine Technique? You've cultivated it to an extraordinary level. Across all twelve universes, no one besides the Angels has reached the pinnacle of Ultra Instinct. Even Lord Beerus has yet to master that level of Ultra Instinct."
"Whis, you're spilling my secrets again," Beerus said.
"Oh ho ho, my apologies, Lord Beerus. That slipped out," Whis said with a laugh.
Son Goku smiled. "You taught me Ultra Instinct, of course, Whis."
"What? How is that possible?" Whis asked in surprise.
Son Goku smiled. "I'm Lord Beerus's candidate, but Lord Beerus is still asleep in my timeline. To have me serve as a God of Destruction Candidate, Whis taught me Ultra Instinct."
"Oh, I see. So the me in your timeline appointed you as a God of Destruction Candidate without Lord Beerus's permission," Whis said.
"That's right, Whis."
"Lord Beerus, it seems you really ought to thank me. Oh ho ho," Whis said with a laugh.
"Tch, that was the Whis from Son Goku's timeline, not you," Beerus said.
