Baki raised his hand and swore an oath to save his own life.
This was an absolute misunderstanding. If the plan had failed and he had been killed, he would have accepted it.
It wasn't as though he had undertaken this plan without being prepared to die. Naturally, he had steeled himself for that outcome.
But what was happening now wasn't part of the plan at all!
Dying over this would be such a waste.

Nothing else made sense. Countless thoughts raced through his mind as he hoped Hiruzen Sarutobi would believe that he had no intention of attacking Konoha!
At least, not right now.
Hiruzen Sarutobi said nothing and merely eyed Baki suspiciously. Baki gulped and stayed where he was.
An eerie silence settled over the room. Neither of them panicked over the incident in the Forest of Death.
After watching him for a long while without seeing any reaction, Hiruzen concluded that this probably wasn't some trick of theirs.
"That does seem to be the case. Take some men to reinforce the Forest of Death. I'll check the village entrance. If we can capture the invaders alive, we should be able to extract some valuable information!"
"Yes."
When under someone else's roof, you had no choice but to bow your head.
This was Konoha, not his own Sunagakure. Baki nodded and accepted the arrangement. He could only lead the men himself, and the only people he could mobilize were those from the Sand Village.
All he could do was go and take a look.
"Oh, have Kakashi go with you. Take this Elite Jonin from the Sand Village
