And Hiruzen Sarutobi's death was a major event. Just as in the original story, there would be a funeral. Plenty of people would certainly be assigned to deal with it, and there would be no real activities for at least half a month.

Hiruzen Sarutobi's passing should count as good news, too. It would make the people of Konoha take things seriously instead of doing nothing but bullying others and lounging around.
