Yui bent over and searched the two corpses. Only after finding nothing of value did she stand up.
Her sleeves swished as she rapidly formed hand seals. "Fire Release..."
She parted her lips and spat out two balls of fire, one landing on each corpse.
Crackling filled the surroundings. Under Yui's gaze, the two corpses burned completely to ash.
"Phew..." Yui used a Wind Release jutsu to clear away the last traces on the ground, then headed back to her lodgings.
"It's so late. I wonder if Nai Hyuga is back yet..." Yui murmured. Just as she spoke, her throat suddenly tickled. "Cough, cough, cough..."
After a few light coughs, the dryness in her mouth and throat grew even worse.
She suddenly recalled the advice Uesugi Yuri had given her not long ago.
Now, a question lingered in her mind.
If something was wrong with Uesugi Io, who could guarantee that nothing was wrong with Uesugi Yuri, too?
At that thought, her expression grew increasingly grave.
Should she drink water or not? Should she listen to Uesugi Yuri?

After sorting through her thoughts again, she gently shook her head and made up her mind. I'll trust Uesugi Yuri after all.
During the few days they had spent together, she hadn't noticed anything amiss with Uesugi Yuri. Uesugi Io, on the other hand, had given her a strange feeling when they met today.
Noticing the faint light ahead, she came back to her senses a little. Without realizing it, she had reached the door to her room.
She sighed inwardly, then reached out and pushed it open with
