Yui froze, then hurried forward to catch it as realization struck. "Speak of the devil. Did Nai discover something else?"
She put away the scroll she had prepared and unfurled the one Nai Hyuga had tossed through.
On it, Nai Hyuga had written her concerns about Xiao You. She said Xiao You had been asleep after being summoned over, and, wary of anything going wrong, she had decided to ask through a scroll.
"This... did Nai notice something wrong with Xiao You too?" Nai Hyuga's description of Xiao You's condition confirmed what Yui had just been thinking.
After pausing to gather her thoughts, she picked up a brush and began writing on the scroll. She needed to tell Nai Hyuga what had happened. Otherwise, it'll be a disaster if she summons my body from the Red Ant Desert. I don't want to go back there so soon.
With these thoughts in mind, she soon covered the scroll in densely packed writing. She rolled it up and pushed it back through the spatial passage in front of her. Only then did she breathe a sigh of relief.
"Ugh! That was careless of me." Yui was filled with regret. She should have thought these issues through beforehand. Still, there was nothing she could do now. At least Xiao You wasn't in danger.
Looking at Xiao You's body on her shoulder, she sighed softly, then took it down and tucked it back into her sleeve to keep anything from going wrong.
In the Red Ant Desert, Nai Hyuga caught the scroll Yui tossed out and immediately unfurled it to read.
But once she finished reading, she felt rather helpless. "So that's what happened. I knew it! I nearly got my hopes up for nothing."
She spread her hands and tossed the scroll aside.
