After giving it some thought, they guessed that the Humanoid Figure might have changed course, causing them to lose track of their target.
Once they had figured that out, they split up to investigate in three different directions. One Shadow Clone followed the route they had come from, intending to return to Nai Hyuga's Original Body and make sure she was safe.
That Shadow Clone, Yui, pushed her Flying Ninjutsu to its limit and shot forward like an arrow loosed from a bow. She wanted to see Nai Hyuga's Original Body as soon as possible.
Some time later...
Yui's Byakugan pierced the layers of black mist. As her expression grew grave, a blurry silhouette quietly appeared at the edge of her vision.
The silhouette was indistinct, but Yui recognized it immediately. After all, no one could fail to recognize their own appearance. That, however, was not the main reason she felt certain.
The main reason was that the blurry silhouette showed two people embracing. In this Black Mist Space, who else would be so intimate but the Shadow Clone she had left behind and Nai Hyuga?
Surely it couldn't be the Humanoid Figure we saw earlier?
That was impossible!
As she drew closer, the blurry silhouette at the edge of her vision became clearer. Sure enough, she had not been mistaken. It was the other Shadow Clone and Nai Hyuga's Original Body, still locked in the same tight embrace as when she had left.
"Phew... almost there..." Yui drew a deep breath and watched the two figures anxiously, trying to make out their current condition.
Perhaps she would reach them in another few minutes. As the distance rapidly shrank, Yui felt a little wistful. She had never realized just how far she had traveled through the Black Mist Space earlier.
