Caesar Hotel.
Bai Chenxiang became a blur and slammed open the half-closed wooden door to Room 13.
Yang Jian and Ning Rongrong followed close behind, striding into the room.
"What did you see?" Yang Jian shut the door behind him, his gaze fixed on Bai Chenxiang as she cowered, trembling, in the corner.
There was no warmth in Yang Jian's voice, and the Ghost Eye on his forehead rolled restlessly.
Bai Chenxiang gasped for breath, her voice filled with undisguised terror.
"A very tall male corpse! He was standing in the corridor, carrying a blurry old Firewood Cleaver!"
At those words, Yang Jian's gaze sharpened instantly, a barely perceptible gleam flashing deep in his eyes.
A tall male corpse.
An old kitchen knife.
That had to be the terrifying paranormal item Lin Cheng had mentioned!
Beside him, Ning Rongrong's heart suddenly skipped a beat.
The Firewood Cleaver in the photograph!
"That should be the Firewood Cleaver in the photograph I'm looking for. I wonder whether the deal with the Ghost Cabinet counts as complete."
Without hesitation, Yang Jian's Ghost Eye snapped open on his forehead.
A scarlet ghost domain erupted from his body, engulfing all of Room 13.
Three-layer ghost domain, activate!
He grasped the doorknob and was about to open the door to investigate.
Then everything changed!
A thin red line suddenly appeared around Ning Rongrong's waist as she stood beside Yang Jian.
Squelch!
The spine-chilling sound of tearing flesh broke the silence of the room.
Blood instantly stained the surrounding walls and carpet red.
Ning Rongrong's body had been severed at the waist!
Her upper and lower halves fell separately to the floor, her organs and intestines spilling out in a wet heap.
Yang Jian whipped his head around, his pupils shrinking to pinpoints.
He stared at the two halves of her body, still twitching faintly on the floor, as shock surged through him.
"How is that possible? This is a three-layer ghost domain!"
A three-layer ghost domain could block the vast majority of paranormal attacks.
Yet that unknown attack had silently penetrated his ghost domain and cut Ning Rongrong clean in half!
He did not even know where the attack had come from or what had triggered it!
Douluo Continent, the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect.
"Rongrong!"
Ning Fengzhi let out a heart-rending cry, and the white jade teacup in his hand shattered.
He sprang to his feet, his face contorted beyond recognition, staring fixedly at the Sky Screen overhead as his eyes instantly turned bloodshot.
He had watched his beloved daughter get cut in half at the waist while she was still alive!
The sheer horror of the sight left Ning Fengzhi barely able to breathe.
"Fengzhi, calm down!"
Sword Douluo Chen Xin stepped forward, fierce sword intent erupting uncontrollably from his body.
Still, he forced himself to hold Ning Fengzhi's trembling shoulders down.
"Rongrong split apart-she actually split apart!" Ning Fengzhi's voice was hoarse.
Bone Douluo Gu Rong gritted his teeth, staring at the blood covering the floor in the image as he offered reassurance in a low voice.
"Fengzhi, don't forget, Rongrong is one of those Ghost Handlers now!"
"She has that dormant Ghost Skin inside her. She has a way to stay alive! Besides, she's a Soul Elder. A Soul Master's body is far stronger than an ordinary person's, with extremely tenacious vitality. She might not die!"
Despite his words, Gu Rong's back was already drenched in cold sweat.
The world of Mysterious Revival, Room 13 of the Caesar Hotel.
Pain.
Excruciating pain beyond words overwhelmed Ning Rongrong's nerves.
Her vision shifted in a bizarre way.
She watched helplessly as the lower half of her body slammed into a pool of blood.
She could even see her own organs clearly.
I've been cut in half?
A flicker of bewildered disbelief passed through Ning Rongrong's mind.
Even the dormant Ghost Skin had been dismembered along with her by that invisible attack!
Her consciousness rapidly began to fade, darkness surging in like a tide.
But just as Bone Douluo had said, her powerful Soul Elder physique stubbornly preserved her final breath, preventing immediate, complete brain death.
Yang Jian reacted swiftly.
He stepped up to Ning Rongrong's severed body and forcibly pulled her two halves together.
Paranormal Splicing, activate!
Yang Jian tried to splice Ning Rongrong back together using the Ghost Shadow's power.
But even after she had been spliced together, Ning Rongrong's consciousness continued to sink.
With difficulty, she moved her eyes to look at Yang Jian and let out a faint, breathy whisper.
"Am I... going to die?"
At that instant, with her life hanging by a thread-
The spliced Ghost Skin began writhing frantically at the wound.
Paranormal power silently activated, countless grayish-white buds of flesh weaving and tangling together, forcibly binding Ning Rongrong's two halves.
The Ghost Skin barely kept her alive.
But the price was terrible.
Ning Rongrong could distinctly feel the skin all over her body tightening to an unbearable degree.
It was as though it had become a bodysuit three sizes too small, threatening to crush her bones.
Her bones protruded sharply beneath her skin. The Ghost Skin was reviving!
The paranormal forces that had achieved a perfect balance within her had been thrown completely out of equilibrium by this fatal injury.
Worse still, as the Ghost Skin unleashed its full power, its suppression of the supernatural entity in her abdomen instantly dropped to almost nothing.
Ning Rongrong's eyes flew wide, her features twisting in agony as anguished howls tore from her throat.
The supernatural entity in her abdomen felt its restraints and began frantically destroying her internal organs.
Her intestines and stomach were torn apart. That pain from within was even more maddening than being cleaved in two.
Bai Chenxiang was utterly paralyzed with terror in the corner.
She clamped her hands over her mouth, tears streaming down her face. Unable even to scream, she could only watch Ning Rongrong writhe in agony in the pool of blood.
Yang Jian looked coldly down at Ning Rongrong, without a trace of pity in his eyes.
"Do you want me to help take the supernatural entity out of your abdomen?" His voice was ice-cold.
Ning Rongrong's mouth was full of blood and fragments of her organs.
She clenched her teeth, her nails gouging ten deep, bloody grooves into the wooden floor, her expression hideously contorted.
"No... don't!"
"If you take it out, the Ghost Skin will revive immediately. I'll definitely die!"
Through sheer, astonishing willpower, Ning Rongrong endured the churning agony inside her.
Seeing that Ning Rongrong had been pulled back from the brink of death, Yang Jian left her alone.
He slowly stood, his gaze fixed on the tightly shut wooden door, every muscle in his body drawn taut.
His three-layer ghost domain had been penetrated with ease.
Ning Rongrong had suddenly split in two, as though an invisible blade had cleaved her apart from a distance.
The rules behind this seemingly unstoppable attack were terrifying.
Without hesitation, Yang Jian pulled a scarlet Ghost Candle straight from his pocket.
A flame sprang from his lighter, instantly lighting the Ghost Candle.
A sickly green candle flame lit up the dim room, its cold glow driving back the surrounding darkness and bringing a faint sense of safety.
As long as the Ghost Candle burned, anyone within its light would be immune to all paranormal attacks.
But mere seconds later-
The sickly green flame suddenly flickered violently, as though struck by some terrifying, invisible blow.
A large section of the previously intact Ghost Candle burned away in an instant!
Scalding red wax dripped onto the back of his hand. Less than a third of the candle remained!
Yang Jian stared at the candle that had shrunk in his hand, his face darkening ominously.
"You've got to be kidding!"
One strike. Just a single invisible attack had consumed most of the Ghost Candle!
If that last attack had been aimed at him, and he had not lit the Ghost Candle-
He would probably have ended up in two halves, just like Ning Rongrong.
