Selection and dependence on Yang Jian

Rongrong enters the Mysterious Revival realm when the Sky Screen selects her despite Ning Fengzhi’s attempt to have Chen Xin and Gu Rong stop the teleportation. She arrives in a first-floor restroom at No. 7 Middle School, hiding beneath the sinks and using her pagoda’s glow to see. Her initial survival comes from remaining quiet and avoiding reckless exploration or absorption of supernatural energy 4 5.

She follows Yang Jian after hearing that he intends to rescue classmates, treating that mission as evidence that he is a good person. When he refuses to protect someone useless, she demonstrates her support skills. Their modest ability to suppress his ghost revival earns her a place beside him. A wound from the Ghost Baby then infects her, creating the dormant paranormal presence she initially mistakes for a divine breakthrough 5 6 7.

The Sheepskin Paper and Forum missions

Rongrong secretly takes the Sheepskin Paper from Fang Jing’s corpse and stores it in her waist-mounted Soul Tool. Yang Jian notices but leaves it with her in accordance with Lin Cheng’s instructions. The paper claims to speak as her future self, predicts a fatal crisis in three days, and repeatedly directs her to stay near Yang Jian 14 16.

After receiving a Forum communicator, she accompanies Yang Jian to Rich Benevolence Mall to earn mission rewards. Hu Liena’s attempt to bewitch her and steal the paper fails when her blackened rings disrupt the control. The two later cooperate against the apparition using Chao Tianxiang’s body, with Rongrong supplying a strength enhancement. Completing the mall mission gives her permission to use the Ghost Cabinet 20 27 31 32 34.

Ghost Cabinet bargains

Following the paper’s wording, Rongrong requests a dormant ghost capable of absorbing fatal attacks and balancing the force inside her. The Cabinet grants the Ghost Skin, then demands a living person with soul power within twenty-four hours. Rongrong subsequently attacks Meng Yiran and delivers her body to the Cabinet. Instead of ending the transactions, it orders her to retrieve a photographed Firewood Cleaver within three days 34 36 37 131.

At Caesar Hotel, an invisible attack cuts Rongrong in half. Yang Jian reconnects her body with his Ghost Shadow, while the Ghost Skin keeps her alive at the cost of awakening and destabilizing the entity in her abdomen. Ghost Bus and the Red Comb trap

Rongrong recruits Yu Tianheng through an exchange of benefits and travels aboard the Ghost Bus. Their combined powers repel the Grave-Crying Supernatural, but using her altered pagoda accelerates her ghost revival. During the overload crisis, she strips Bo Saixi’s skin away; Ghost Douluo delivers the killing blow after Rongrong’s attack leaves Bo Saixi helpless 69 78 80 83 85.

She retrieves a red comb from the Old Mansion, then visits Zhang Bohua’s medicine shop in Peaceful Ancient Town. Zhang removes the Ghost Baby growing inside her in exchange for medicine suppressing the Ghost Skin’s revival. This “baby” is a supernatural being formed by the interaction of paranormal power and her soul power, not an ordinary pregnancy 87 88 89.

Back in Dachang City, Rongrong follows the paper’s instructions to break the comb and wrap it in the Ghost Skin inside a sealed Golden House. The forces clash, stripping away her hair and scalp. The paper stitches itself to her exposed head, and she realizes that its guidance has prepared her body for possession in a room that blocks outside detection 90 91.

Red Ning and the independent faction

The transformed Rongrong emerges with waist-length scarlet hair and offers Fang Shiming the second-stage Starvation Ghost. She argues that displaced Soul Masters need their own faction rather than remaining expendable dependents of native organizations. Yu Tianheng joins her, and she adopts the name Red Ning. Fang’s Ghost Scissors sever the supernatural connection of Yu Tianheng’s Cabinet curse 102 103 104 105.

Red Ning later abandons her temporary alliance with Fang, explaining that his possession of the Starvation Ghost will divert the Forum and Headquarters while she pursues her own plans. She recruits Ghost Douluo through another survival bargain and accepts Yu Xiaogang as a prospective strategist and researcher. Ghost Qipao and the new identity

The school trial reduces her to fearful silence, and she initially judges Yang Jian’s character through his stated rescue mission. Controlling the Ghost Skin brings emotional numbness: she notices that ordinary fear and excitement no longer register normally. Her behavior becomes increasingly self-protective and transactional. She conceals her involvement in Meng Yiran’s disappearance, refuses responsibility for other survivors, and uses threats to prevent interference with her plans. This detachment does not eliminate physical pain or her desire to survive 34 38 48 88 90.

As Red Ning, she performs warmth when it is useful and recruits allies through leverage, protection, and promised power.
