Ch. 1I am Huo Yuhao
Chapter Summary
- Reincarnation and inherited memories: A soul awakens in the body of the frail young Huo Yuhao, who has died after digging his mother’s grave with his bare hands. In a dreamlike space, the newcomer relives Huo Yuhao’s childhood: abuse by the White Tiger Duke’s household and the suffering of his mother, Huo Yun’er. The memories feel so real that he grieves for her as his own mother. Though he cannot recall his former name, he accepts the identity of Huo Yuhao.
- Rejecting the destined path: A system offers him the chance to remain the world’s “child of destiny” and receive the Sky Dream Ice Silkworm, or reject that role in exchange for a system. He immediately chooses freedom from the destined identity. The Sky Dream Ice Silkworm will no longer choose him, but Electrolux will still come to him. He receives the Myriad Worlds Trading System, though it provides no instructions.
- A vow at his mother’s grave: Huo Yuhao buries the White Tiger Dagger—the token of Huo Yun’er’s relationship with Dai Hao—because he sees it as a symbol of the suffering that relationship brought her. He vows to destroy the White Tiger Duke’s Mansion and make Dai Hao suffer by taking his power, status, and family, while declaring that he will neither kill nor meet him. He also hopes to bring Huo Yun’er back to life someday.
- Leaving the past behind: After making three bloody kowtows at the grave, Huo Yuhao feels that he has crossed an inner threshold. He leaves the mansion at night, determined to begin a new life on his own terms.
Character Development and Relationships
Huo Yuhao moves from confusion over whether he is a reincarnated outsider or the original boy to embracing both identities. His grief and anger are rooted in the vivid, intimate bond he feels with Huo Yun’er; her love becomes his own. His relationship to Dai Hao is defined by resentment and a desire for revenge, but he chooses to punish him through loss and suffering rather than direct murder.
Significant Themes
- Identity and memory: Huo Yuhao questions where one self ends and the other begins, ultimately choosing to live as the person shaped by both lives.
- Freedom and fate: Rejecting the “child of destiny” role represents a refusal to be controlled by a predetermined plot.
- Love, grief, and revenge: Huo Yun’er’s kindness gives Huo Yuhao a reason to honor her, while the injustice she endured fuels his vow of retribution.
- A new beginning: Leaving the mansion marks a deliberate break with the past and the start of a life he intends to direct himself.
