Background / History

Dai Family upbringing

Dai Huabin is the younger brother of Dai Yueheng and a son of White Tiger Duke Dai Hao. His talent exceeds Yueheng’s, making him a favored prospect for the family’s future leadership. Mu En considers him capable of eventually becoming a Super Douluo 49 52 164.

He is identified as the principal culprit behind the deaths of Huo Yudie’s mother and twin brother, Huo Yuhao. His later contempt for Yudie includes dismissing Yuhao as someone who could not withstand “a little rough treatment” 29.

First wager and public defeat

At Shrek Academy, Huabin recognizes Yudie and insults her mother’s status as a maid. He challenges her to a contest intended to make her kowtow; Chu Ge intervenes, and Yudie accepts a wager requiring the loser to apologize and kowtow three times 28 29.

Huabin publicizes the duel, expecting his higher cultivation and White Tiger Martial Soul to guarantee victory. Instead, Yudie knocks him unconscious with the weakest level of Spiritual Shock. After being awakened, he reluctantly fulfills the wager under pressure from the spectators 30 32 33.

Chu Ge warns him against further harassment. Huabin leaves resentful, then faints as spectators ridicule his defeat. While recovering, he considers having family elders kill Yudie during an academy mission 34 37.

Soul Bone theft and the Three-Month Pact

When Dai Hao purchases a valuable Soul Bone for Yueheng, Huabin tricks the steward into leaving and takes it. He absorbs it before his brother can intervene, then pretends he mistook it for his own gift. Yueheng restrains himself because violently removing the fused bone would damage his succession prospects 51 52 53.

The resulting increase to level 38 does not change the outcome of Huabin’s next challenge: Yudie defeats him again, forcing another three kowtows. He proposes a rematch in three months, expecting Soul Ancestor cultivation and a stronger fourth ring to overcome her mental attacks. Yudie agrees only after he adds his absorbed Soul Bone to the stakes 54 55.

Huabin returns as a level 41 Soul Ancestor intending to cripple her. During the match, he combines his fourth Soul Skill with his Soul Bone enhancement, but Yudie counters with Heavenly Dream Finger and knocks him unconscious without taking a hit 164 167.

After his third defeat, he kowtows but claims he has no available Soul Bone to surrender. Yudie rejects his promise of future payment, severs his arm, and extracts the bone he had wagered 168 169.

Assassination attempt and death

Huabin hires Zhang San, a level 86 Soul Douluo, to kill both Yudie and Chu Ge. He assumes Chu Ge is merely a Soul Emperor or, at most, a Soul Saint because he holds a teaching post rather than an elder’s position 170 172.

Chu Ge draws Zhang San into an alley, reveals his level 98 Super Douluo cultivation, and kills him after obtaining his confession. Huabin, still expecting the assassination to succeed, continues intimidating students and imagining his return as Shrek’s leading young talent 172 173.

Chu Ge and Yudie confront him at a Dai Family accessory shop. Huabin expresses no remorse; Chu Ge cripples his cultivation and Martial Soul, then beheads him. The killing becomes the opening of a wider confrontation with the Dai Family 173 174.

News spreads through Shrek that afternoon, with some students celebrating. Mu En and Yan Shaozhe understand Chu Ge’s motive, while Xuan Zi condemns the killing and emphasizes the Dai Family’s historic ties to the academy. News of the beheading later shocks the continent’s major powers 174 176 177.

Appearance

Huabin is introduced as a blond boy of about twelve, with mismatched eyes and an openly disdainful expression 28.

  • Blond hair and mismatched eyes are his distinguishing physical features 28.
  • Tiger claws replace his hands when he attacks with his Martial Soul 167.
  • Severed arm: Yudie cuts off the arm containing his wagered Soul Bone 168 169. A later passage describes both arms as lost and states that attempts to reattach them failed because of the weapon’s destructive effects 172.

Personality

Huabin treats noble birth and cultivation talent as proof of personal superiority. He regards Yudie’s presence at the same academy as an insult and repeatedly dismisses her as inferior because her mother was a maid 28 30.

Defeat intensifies his resentment rather than prompting reflection. He blames Yudie for losing Zhu Lu, his brother’s goodwill, and his reputation, while assuming another breakthrough will restore everything. Even when confronted over the assassination, he asks what he did wrong 54 139 167 173.

His entitlement extends to close relationships. He treats Zhu Lu as an accessory who must eventually return to him and justifies stealing Yueheng’s Soul Bone as taking something his greater talent deserves 38 52 53.

Abilities & Skills

Evil-Eyed White Tiger

A powerful inherited Beast Martial Soul associated with the Dai Family’s ten-thousand-year lineage 29 32.

  • Supports his Power Attack System fighting style 32.
  • Transforms his hands into tiger claws during combat 167.
  • Despite its strength, it does not protect him from Yudie’s spiritual attacks; she defeats him at both Soul Elder and Soul Ancestor ranks 33 54 167.

White Tiger Earth-Splitting Slash

His fourth Soul Skill and strongest explicitly named attack. He opens the Three-Month Pact duel with it while simultaneously activating his Soul Bone Skill 167.

  • Used as part of a direct charge against Yudie 167.
  • Fails to land before Heavenly Dream Finger knocks him unconscious 167.

Soul Bone Enhancement

His absorbed right-arm Soul Bone raises both his cultivation and combat strength 53.

  • Increases his Soul Power by several levels upon absorption 53.
  • Provides an enhancement skill used alongside his fourth Soul Skill 167.
  • Does not supply sufficient resistance to Yudie’s mental techniques 54 167.

Martial Soul Fusion

Xiao Xiao reports that Huabin has already performed a Martial Soul Fusion Skill with his fiancée. Huabin later names Hell White Tiger when considering Zhu Lu’s usefulness as a partner 29 38.

  • Zhu Lu is his identified fusion partner 29 38.
  • He does not use the fusion in the documented duels against Yudie 32 54 167.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Diamond Tiger Right-Arm Soul Bone — Purchased by Dai Hao for Yueheng, stolen and absorbed by Huabin, then wagered against Yudie. She forcibly removes it after his third defeat 46 51 52 53 55 169.
    • Its age is described inconsistently: nearly fifty thousand years when offered for sale, but sixty thousand years when extracted 46 169.
    • Some passages instead call it a Diamond Wolf Soul Bone 52 171.

Relationships

  • Dai Hao — Father and White Tiger Duke. Favors Huabin’s talent and continues supporting his cultivation despite reports of bullying and public humiliation 52 139.
  • Dai Yueheng — Older brother and succession rival. Huabin’s theft of his Soul Bone turns their rivalry into open hostility; Yueheng vows eventual retaliation 49 53 54.
  • Zhu Lu — Fiancée and reported Martial Soul Fusion partner. Initially cares for him after his defeat, but leaves when he blames her and treats her as subordinate. Her family’s political position makes formally ending the engagement difficult 29 37 38.
  • Huo Yudie — Victim of his bullying and principal opponent. Defeats him three times, enforces the Soul Bone wager, and ultimately moves beyond the fear he once represented 28 33 54 167 168 169.
  • Huo Yuhao and Mother Huo — Yudie’s deceased brother and mother. Huabin is identified as the principal culprit behind their deaths 29.
  • Chu Ge — Yudie’s master and eventual killer. Warns Huabin against further harassment, exposes his assassination scheme, and executes him 34 172 173 174.
  • Tang Wutong — Yudie’s protective friend. Confronts his insults and repeatedly welcomes his defeats 28 33 168.
  • Zhang San — Level 86 Soul Douluo hired to assassinate Yudie and Chu Ge. Confesses Huabin’s involvement before being killed 172 173.
  • Xuan Zi — Defends Huabin after his death, initially portraying him as virtuous and eager to learn while accusing Chu Ge of excessive cruelty 174 176.
