Chen Mo extracted the Medicine Saint Pill Codex once more.
At once, a vast flood of memories surged into his mind. There was so much information that Chen Mo felt slightly dizzy.
After sorting through it a little, Chen Mo discovered that the Medicine Saint Pill Codex contained all kinds of medicinal pills, pill formulas, and descriptions of various herbs. It could be called an encyclopedia of pill refinement.
After resting briefly, Chen Mo continued extracting the Accompanying Amethyst Source and began cultivating.
He poured an entire bottle into his stomach.
The instant it entered his belly, Chen Mo's body turned scorching hot, and his skin gradually took on a purple tint. He instinctively raised his hands, wanting to scratch himself.
When he opened his mouth, he actually exhaled a stream of searing hot air.
Chen Mo did not dare be careless and hurriedly activated the Supreme Primordial Chaos Art to refine it.
As the Supreme Primordial Chaos Art circulated at high speed, the rampaging purple energy within Chen Mo's body was instantly suppressed, and his body temperature gradually fell.
Those tyrannical purple energies were refined bit by bit into his flesh and blood.
But as the process continued, the purple energy seemed unwilling to be slowly refined and gathered into a single mass.
Under the pressure of the Supreme Primordial Chaos Art, the clustered purple energy sensed an intense threat. It suddenly trembled violently, and a cluster of purple flames rose from its surface, resisting the black-and-white energy of the Supreme Primordial Chaos Art.
But it was all futile. It was instantly suppressed.
Then, he guided that cluster of purple flames through several meridians and directly into the vortex.
A new round of refinement began.
Inside a dim, eerie hall.
Three Snake-People Clan elders clad in black robes and wearing terrifying masks with long horns and fangs looked down at the two people on the altar below.
The elder standing on the right said with restrained fury, "Your Majesty, not only did you fail to severely punish the traitor, you even brought a human into the royal palace. What are you trying to do?"
"That human saved my sister. He is now seriously injured, and I cannot simply leave him alone. Snake-People may be cold-blooded, but we are not heartless."
Queen Medusa looked directly at the elder on the right, without a trace of emotion in her enchanting, narrow eyes.
"Big Sister." Die, who was lying prone on the ground awaiting punishment, smiled when she heard those words.
"You've gone mad. No... Your Majesty, what are you doing? He is a human, yet you saved a human! How many Snake-People die at the hands of humans every year, and yet you show a human your mercy?"
The elder on the right was suppressing his rage. Clearly, he was extremely dissatisfied with Queen Medusa saving a human.
"He is different from other humans. Not only did he save my sister, he also saved more than a dozen of our clansmen before this," Queen Medusa said coldly.
"Your Majesty, you..."
The elder on the right wanted to say more, but the leading elder in the middle stopped him.
"Grand Elder," the elder on the right said.
"Enough. Let us not discuss this matter for now." The Grand Elder's voice was hoarse and low as his hollow eyes fixed on Queen Medusa below. "Your Majesty, now that the traitor has been captured, she should be severely punished."
Die's expression changed.
Queen Medusa fell silent. Then a glint of cold light flashed through her eyes.
"Since that day, I have been wondering why only one of my sister and I could live. Now, I understand."
"It is good that you understand. The Snake-People Clan can only have one Queen Medusa. This is a rule passed down through the clan, and it can lead us to greatness," the Grand Elder said.
"It cannot." Medusa's voice was icy and resolute.
The expressions of the three elders changed.
"Big Sister." Die stared at her sister in surprise. This was the first time her sister had defied the Grand Elder and the others.
"Presumptuous! What are you trying to do? Do you also intend to rebel?" The Grand Elder angrily stretched out a hand and pointed at Queen Medusa.
"You are the one being presumptuous. I am the Queen!"
Queen Medusa's red lips parted. A vast aura swept out from her body, accompanied by terrifying pressure that extinguished every flame burning nearby.
"A person's heart obeys only herself. You may try to bind it, but one day, it will be set free. I loathe this war. I loathe this game of harvesting lives.
"From today onward, I will abolish every unreasonable rule in the clan and lead the Snake-People Clan toward true strength in my own way!"
"Your Majesty, you must not! The clan rules cannot be abolished. They were passed down by our ancestors."
Frightened by her imposing presence, the three elders hurriedly knelt and pleaded.
"This Queen is not discussing this with you. I am informing you."
Queen Medusa turned around. "Sister, let us go!"
"Big Sister." Tears shimmered in Die's eyes. She knew how much courage it had taken for her sister to say those words. She quickly wiped away her tears, rose to her feet, and chased after her.
After they came out, Die wrapped her arms around Queen Medusa's arm and gently rubbed her head against it. "Big Sister, you're so good to me."
"Fool." Die's rubbing tickled Queen Medusa, and a faint smile appeared on her usually indifferent face.
Suddenly, she sensed a powerful surge of natural energy flowing in an unusual manner. Her eyes narrowed as she immediately fixed her gaze on a room in the smallest side hall beside her own sleeping quarters within the royal palace.
"It's him," Queen Medusa murmured.
"Chen Mo?" Die said with a smile.
"Hm?" Queen Medusa frowned and suddenly asked, "Sister, do you remember the one thing you promised me?"
"Of course I remember." Before going to see the elders, Die had asked her sister to spare Chen Mo, and in return, Die had promised her one thing.
"Good. Tomorrow, you will go to the Forbidden Ground and receive Medusa's Inheritance," Queen Medusa said.
Die froze. "Big Sister, shouldn't you be the one receiving it?"
"I have already received it. I specifically left one for you."
"Ah, Big Sister, you..." Die hesitated before saying, "Can I wait until Chen Mo recovers before receiving the inheritance?"
Die knew clearly that accepting the inheritance would take at least two or three months, and as long as half a year. During that time, she would not be able to see Chen Mo again.
"No." Queen Medusa immediately refused.
She had noticed that something was not right between her sister and that human, so she wanted to find a way to separate them. She had even arranged for the human to stay beside her own residence so that she could monitor him at all times.
She would not let him approach her sister.
Then, she would use this time to let her sister gradually forget her feelings for him.
"Big Sister, please. Just seven days. Seven days will be enough." Die shook Queen Medusa's arm and pleaded coquettishly.
"No."
"Then five days?"
"No." Queen Medusa still shook her head.
"Then three days. Three days should be fine, right?"
"Fine. Three days."
Queen Medusa agreed.
Guess who the next goddess to be bound will be?
