Qiao Hua paused, nodded to Xia Feiyan, and stepped into the elevator.
Watching the two tall bodyguards follow Qiao Hua inside, Xia Feiyan's gaze grew inscrutable as she studied Qiao Hua standing in front of her.
The elevator was so quiet that they could have heard a pin drop. As it descended past each floor, flashes of light spilled through the gap between the doors.
Qiao Hua caught Xia Feiyan studying her in the mirror in front of her and pretended not to notice.
She could tell Xia Feiyan was unfriendly toward her, and she certainly wasn't going to force a friendly reception out of someone who disliked her.
Soon, the elevator reached the ground floor. The two bodyguards behind her stepped forward to hold the doors open. Just as Qiao Hua was about to leave, Xia Feiyan suddenly spoke behind her. "Miss Qiao."
Qiao Hua stopped and turned to Xia Feiyan with a questioning look.
Xia Feiyan looked at her. "Let's talk."
Before Qiao Hua could speak, one of the bodyguards beside her said, "No. President Gu instructed us to take Miss Qiao home and not let anyone approach her."
Qiao Hua's mouth twitched.
Wasn't Gu Wenze being a little too cautious?
Xia Feiyan clearly hadn't expected that Gu Wenze had sent these two bodyguards to protect Qiao Hua. Her expression turned complicated, and her gaze grew even more inscrutable.
"Miss Xia, we don't know each other well. I don't think we have much to talk about," Qiao Hua said politely. "I'll be going, then."
As it happened, Qiao Hua had nothing to say to Xia Feiyan either. They weren't that close.
With that, Qiao Hua left.
