Xia Feiyan couldn't help pressing her lips together.
"Leave," Gu Wenze said gravely. "From now on, I hope you'll focus on your work instead of prying into other people's private lives."
His words were harsh. In all the time they had known each other, this was the first time Xia Feiyan had seen Gu Wenze speak to her so sternly.
Knowing that it was all because of Qiao Hua only deepened her hatred for her.
Xia Feiyan clenched her fists and turned to leave the office, keeping her back perfectly straight. She refused to lose face.
Watching Xia Feiyan leave, Gu Wenze coldly withdrew his gaze. He glanced at the phone beside him, but ultimately decided against calling Qiao Hua.
He couldn't shake the feeling that something was off about Qiao Hua today.
Gu Wenze deliberately left work an hour early that day. When he returned to the villa, he asked the nanny where Qiao Hua had gone.
"Madam went to see the young master as soon as she came home. She hasn't come out since."
Gu Wenze looked toward the second floor and headed upstairs.
He reached the Nursery and saw Qiao Hua through the half-open door, sitting beside the crib and playing with the baby.
Gu Wenze pushed the door open and hugged Qiao Hua from behind.
"Why did you leave without telling me?"
Gu Wenze's reproachful voice sounded beside her ear. Qiao Hua stiffened for a moment before quickly relaxing. "I had nothing to do at the company, so I came home early," she said calmly.
"Is that all?" Gu Wenze studied her fair profile with a probing gaze.
He kept feeling that Qiao Hua was hiding something from him.
Uncomfortable, Qiao Hua pulled free of his tightly encircling arms. "What other reason would there be?"
