Aunt Hong: "..."
Yan Xuanjing: "..."
Jingzhe: "..."
Ning Hui: "..."
Aunt Hong froze for a few seconds before saying, "Miss, you've mistaken me for someone else. I'm not your Auntie Cuihua."
"Impossible. How could I mistake you for someone else? You're Auntie Cuihua." Ning Sang-sang spoke with utter seriousness. "Auntie Cuihua, how could you do this? I even ate the sugar cakes you made yourself when I was little. How could you say you don't know me?"
Aunt Hong: "...Miss, you really have the wrong person. I'm Aunt Hong, not this Auntie Cuihua you're talking about."
As soon as she finished speaking, Ning Sang-sang walked up to her and said, "Auntie Cuihua, come on. Let's find somewhere quiet and talk privately. I'll help refresh your memory of the time we spent together."
Aunt Hong: "..."
What on earth? Refresh my memory of the time we spent together? She was certain she had no memory of knowing this girl. Her memory had always been excellent. If she knew this girl, she couldn't possibly have forgotten her. Besides, her name wasn't Cuihua!
Seeing how Ning Sang-sang insisted on treating her as Auntie Cuihua, Aunt Hong felt utterly helpless. She knew that unless she cleared things up with this girl, the girl might keep pestering her, so she followed Ning Sang-sang away.
Yan Xuanjing frowned as he watched Ning Sang-sang leave, muttering inwardly, What is this girl up to? Is she really claiming random people as relatives just to get into a brothel?
Watching his sister leave with Auntie Hong, Ning Hui couldn't help exclaiming, "My sister's village really produces nothing but talented people!"
First, the son of Uncle Zhang next door had become a manager at the Fragrant Drunkard Tower. Now an Auntie Cuihua had appeared, having risen to become the madam of the Hundred Flowers House, the largest brothel in the Capital. He was growing increasingly curious about the place where his sister had grown up.
Ning Sang-sang led Auntie Hong to a deserted spot before stopping.
"Miss, you really have the wrong person. I'm truly not your Auntie Cuihua," Aunt Hong told Ning Sang-sang helplessly.
Ning Sang-sang nodded. "I know."
Aunt Hong: "..."
She knows, yet she still insists I'm Auntie Cuihua? Is this girl here to pick a fight? Just as Aunt Hong was getting angry and about to say something, Ning Sang-sang pulled a Jade Pendant from inside her clothes. At the sight of it, Aunt Hong's expression changed drastically, and she immediately moved to kneel.
Quick as a flash, Ning Sang-sang stopped her. "From now on, you're my Auntie Cuihua."
Aunt Hong hurriedly nodded in agreement, her voice respectful. "Yes, miss."
This girl held their young master's personal Jade Pendant. Seeing it was as good as seeing him in person! Whether she wanted her to be Auntie Cuihua, Auntie Cauliflower, or Auntie Apricot Blossom, she had to obediently play the part.
Satisfied with her agreement, Ning Sang-sang said, "Don't be so sharp-eyed from now on. When girls dressed as men come to visit the Hundred Flowers House, turn a blind eye and let them in. It's not as though they aren't paying."
"Yes, yes, of course." Aunt Hong nodded repeatedly, filled with regret. She really shouldn't have stopped this girl. Anyone carrying the young master's personal Jade Pendant had to be someone important. If this girl told him how she had offended her today, her days as madam would likely be over. At that thought, she dropped to her knees with a thud and pleaded with Ning Sang-sang, "Miss, I had eyes but failed to recognize Mount Tai. Please, whatever you do, don't tell the young master about what happened today."
"I won't tell him. Get up."
Only then did Auntie Hong's heart, which had been dangling in suspense, settle back into place, and she rose from the floor.
"Find us a nice private room, and have a few pretty girls come attend to us," Ning Sang-sang told Auntie Hong.
"Yes." Aunt Hong answered respectfully, then turned and left.
Watching her retreating figure, Ning Sang-sang's lips curved into a smile. The Jade Pendant Fifth Senior Brother had left behind really worked wonders.
When Ning Hui saw Ning Sang-sang return, he hurried over and asked curiously, "Sister, is she your Auntie Cuihua?"
"Yes." Ning Sang-sang nodded. "I reminded her of the time we spent together, and she remembered me."
Ning Hui raised his eyebrows at that and couldn't help exclaiming, "Sister, your village really does produce talented people!"
Ning Sang-sang smiled without saying anything. The Ten Thousand Flowers Valley where they had grown up certainly did produce talented people. Apart from her, the utterly useless one, everyone there was talented.
Yan Xuanjing watched Ning Sang-sang with a deep, dark gaze, thinking that it seemed necessary to have someone investigate her life from childhood onward. Ning Hui was actually so naive that he blindly believed her nonsense, but he certainly didn't.
Sensing Yan Xuanjing's gaze, Ning Sang-sang looked over and met his deep, unfathomable eyes, muttering inwardly:
[What nasty scheme is this fellow cooking up now?]
Yan Xuanjing: "..."
"Ahem, ahem, ahem." Seeing Ning Sang-sang talking about Yan Xuanjing in her thoughts again, Ning Hui hurriedly pretended to cough.
Ning Hui's coughing drew Ning Sang-sang's attention. She looked at him and thought, [With these constant bouts of coughing, my little brother needs a doctor to take a proper look at him.]
Ning Hui: "..."
Sister, I'm coughing to warn you! He really wanted to tell her that he could hear her thoughts, but a mysterious force was preventing him. He could neither tell her aloud nor write down that he could hear her thoughts.
Unaware of what Ning Hui was thinking, Ning Sang-sang told him earnestly, "Once we get home today, find a doctor to look at that persistent cough of yours."
Ning Hui: "...All right."
Whatever his sister said went.
Just then, Auntie Hong approached, having finished making the arrangements Ning Sang-sang had requested. "Honored guests, your private room is ready. Please follow me," she said brightly, her manner extremely respectful.
Ning Sang-sang nodded. "Lead the way."
"Yes, miss." Aunt Hong nodded respectfully and personally led them to the private room.
Seeing this, Yan Xuanjing grew even more curious about Ning Sang-sang's identity. If the madam of the Hundred Flowers House, the largest brothel in the Capital, treated her with such respect, she surely had some connection to the place.
Aunt Hong led Ning Sang-sang and the other three to the finest private room in the Hundred Flowers House, on its top floor. The view was superb, taking in all the beautiful scenery of the Capital.
Ning Sang-sang was quite pleased with the private room. She chose a seat by the window and gazed out at the beautiful scenery of the Capital, muttering inwardly:
[The view here is nice. I should come here more often for fun.]
Ning Hui was also delighted with the room. Grinning, he told Ning Sang-sang, "Sister, we should come here to have fun often."
There really was a distinctive charm to sitting on the top floor of the Hundred Flowers House and enjoying the view.
"All right." Ning Sang-sang agreed with a smile. Just then, several exceptionally pretty girls filed in, their skin fair, their faces lovely, and their steps light beneath their gauzy clothes.
