After dealing with things at the hotel, Gu Luoxi had no time to go home. She had to go face those fans right away.
Sitting in the car, Gu Luoxi changed into her gown ahead of time.
Since she was going to meet her fans, she grabbed the cosmetics in the car and touched up her makeup.
They happened to be unopened.
The driver glanced at her and hurriedly tried to stop her. "Miss, those cosmetics..."
"Oh, I'm only using a little. I'll pay you afterward if I have to. Why are you so stingy?" Gu Luoxi rolled her eyes, looking down her nose at the driver.
The driver's mouth twitched. If she wanted to use them, then so be it.
He had meant to kindly warn her that these were imitation cosmetics he'd bought for his daughter. Applied to the face, they would only last an hour... then peel off on their own.
But she apparently... didn't want to listen.
Then it was none of his business.
When they arrived, Gu Luoxi hurried off to change.
She was almost out of time.
After putting on her gown, she spent ages admiring herself in the mirror.
"So beautiful." Gu Luoxi smugly admired her dazzling reflection, unable to resist complimenting herself.
"Why isn't Gu Luosheng here yet?" Gu Luoxi frowned and was just about to call her.
Gu Luosheng made her grand entrance.
"Traffic was terrible." Gu Luosheng blinked, speaking in an adorably sweet voice.
Given a second chance at life, she was happy every day now. Her guiding principle was simple: as long as she was happy, whether anyone else lived or died was none of her concern.
Gu Luoxi saw that Gu Luosheng was wearing a simple slip dress with barely any makeup, yet she looked breathtakingly beautiful...
A flash of jealousy crossed Gu Luoxi's eyes.
She hadn't noticed it when they first met, but the more she looked now, the more she felt... Gu Luosheng really was beautiful.
Forcing down her discomfort, she curved her lips into a smile. "Hurry up and get changed. The fans are waiting outside already. Once you come out, I'll help you with your makeup. You look too plain right now. The fans definitely won't like it."
"Thanks, little sister." Gu Luosheng smiled, revealing lovely dimples at the corners of her mouth.
Gu Luoxi inwardly rolled her eyes.
There was no way she would actually help Gu Luosheng!
"Little sister, sit down and rest for a bit. I'll be ready in no time," Gu Luosheng said innocently.
Gu Luoxi nodded. She had already put on her high heels, and standing for so long really was tiring.
She simply found a chair and sat down.
She seated herself gracefully.
But the moment she sat down... something suddenly felt wrong.
She tried to stand, only to find the chair coming up with her.
"What's going on?" Gu Luoxi muttered.
She turned to look behind her, and her vision nearly went black.
"Ah!" Gu Luoxi screamed.
"What happened?" Gu Luosheng hadn't changed yet. Hearing the scream, she quickly poked her head out to take a look.
"What... is going on?" Gu Luosheng pretended she knew nothing.
"Why is there glue on this chair?!" Gu Luoxi was so furious she nearly stamped her feet.
This was a limited-edition gown, and she had rented it. She only needed to wear it once, then return it afterward. But now it was covered in glue and firmly stuck to the chair.
"Huh? Looks like it's 520-no, 502, the strongest glue ever!" Gu Luosheng glanced at the cabinet beside them, where the glue was sitting.
Gu Luoxi was frantic. "What do we do now? The fans are here. They're waiting outside."
"We can only... pull it off." Gu Luosheng fought to suppress her smile.
Gu Luoxi shot Gu Luosheng a suspicious look. "You didn't do this, did you?"
Gu Luosheng shook her head like a rattle. "Little sister, I got here after you. I wouldn't have had time to set any of this up."
[You fool, I got here as soon as you left home and covered this chair in glue. My only worry was that you wouldn't sit down. "Stop talking nonsense and figure something out!" Gu Luoxi frowned, pacing in circles in a panic with the chair stuck to her.
The sight was utterly ridiculous.
Gu Luosheng felt as though holding in her laughter was going to give her internal injuries.
"There's no other way. Bear with it, and I'll help pull the chair off." With that, Gu Luosheng obligingly walked behind her and gave it a hard tug.
There was a ripping sound.
The gown tore away, exposing the clothes she wore underneath.
It really was... hard to look at.
Gu Luosheng set the chair with the gown stuck to it off to one side, her eyes darting everywhere except at Gu Luoxi.
"Gu Luosheng! Did you do that on purpose? You just wanted to humiliate me, didn't you?" Gu Luoxi completely lost it and started screaming at the top of her lungs.
Gu Luosheng coughed. "Don't get worked up. This still looks much better than running around with a chair on your back, doesn't it? Like a... giant turtle."
"Gu Luosheng, now you're insulting me too!" Gu Luoxi was furious.
"Don't be angry." Gu Luosheng blinked. "How about we change you into something else?"
Gu Luoxi took a deep breath. Looking at the ruined gown, she felt pain in both her heart and her wallet. A dress worth millions was gone in an instant, and she would have to pay for it. Just thinking about it made her miserable.
But she still had to deal with the fans outside first. She had been hoping to use Gu Luosheng as a foil to make herself shine. With that thought, Gu Luoxi gritted her teeth and decided to leave this mess for later.
"I'll change into something else." Gu Luoxi went into the dressing room intending to change, only to find it completely empty.
"Where are my clothes?" Gu Luoxi asked.
Gu Luosheng spread her hands. "I don't know. I just got here. Don't ask me."
Gu Luoxi was about to go crazy. She searched everywhere but found nothing.
She couldn't possibly go out wearing this now. The back was already torn.
Gu Luoxi took a deep breath. "What do we do now?"
Gu Luosheng pointed at the outfit Gu Luoxi had prepared for her. "Wear mine for now."
"No!" Gu Luoxi immediately rejected the idea.
That outfit was meant to make Gu Luosheng embarrass herself. She wasn't about to wear something so ugly.
"Why not?" Gu Luosheng looked at her in confusion.
Gu Luoxi realized she had overreacted and coughed to hide her embarrassment. "I mean, this was specially prepared for you. If I wear it, what will you wear?"
"It's fine. I'll just wear what I have on. We can't exactly... let you go out like that, can we? You'll definitely end up trending."
Gu Luoxi glanced at the back of her dress, seething.
She really was about to explode with anger!
"Put it on first. Don't embarrass yourself." Gu Luosheng kindly handed her the outfit.
With no other clothes available, she would have to wear it whether she wanted to or not.
"Then let's cancel today's fan meet." Gu Luoxi spoke through gritted teeth.
