The sudden loss of contact was not a problem in itself.
Kroya had already sent people to follow Ryan to prevent anything from going wrong. It had merely been a precaution, but something had actually happened.
Soon, several people carried Ryan inside.
He had no visible injuries, but his Mental Power was completely depleted. His brow was tightly furrowed, his face pale.
He looked as though all the luster had drained from him, leaving him increasingly pallid.
These were classic symptoms of Mental Power exhaustion. Mental Power was like oil within the human body; almost everything a person did needed it to keep things running smoothly.
Without Mental Power, this was what happened.
Unless it was replenished through special means, intelligence, reflexes, and even physical health would decline. The person might even become mentally impaired.
"So the price is Mental Power."
After examining him, Kroya finally resolved his doubts. This method of transmitting consciousness over such a great distance did, ultimately, rely on consuming Mental Power.
If it required Mental Power, he would have to consider training his subordinates in that area or providing them with something to supplement it.
For now, though, he needed to replenish Ryan's Mental Power first.
He fetched a bottle of soothing lily essential oil, activated it with magic flame, and mixed in Mental Power drawn from thirsty sea glow algae. A fresh fragrance drifted into Ryan's nose.
Before long, Ryan slowly came around.
As soon as he woke, Ryan hurriedly scrambled up. "Lord Mage, I felt a sharp pain in my head, and then I passed out!"
"Yes, I know." Kroya nodded.
"This method requires Mental Power to work in the first place. As a Knight Apprentice, it's perfectly normal for your Mental Power to be weaker than a mage's."
