Jiang Nian looked at the door in front of her, knowing it definitely wouldn't open.
Fu Zhenzhen must have thought the buff had affected her, so after seeing Shen Lei enter this room, she had shoved her inside, hoping something would happen between her and that bastard son.

The butterfly effect had twisted this plot beyond recognition. Instead of catching Shen Hui and Jiang Wenxue, they were coming after her and Shen Lei.

She squeezed the diamond bracelet on her right wrist, then turned around with a bewildered expression to answer what Shen Lei had just said:
"I... I don't know. I just wanted to get some air, and then Fu Zhenzhen pushed me into this room."
Looking around the room, she spotted Jiang Wenxue lying motionless on the bed and Shen Lei standing beside her, his expression shifting.
Jiang Nian backed away a few steps in apparent fear and stammered, "W-what are you doing? Why is Jiang Wenxue lying on the bed?"
Seeing Jiang Nian turn her attention to Jiang Wenxue, whom he had drugged unconscious, Shen Lei stared at her intently. He quietly slipped his right hand into his pocket and gripped a handkerchief soaked in a knockout drug.
Had Jiang Nian seen something? Should he knock her out first?
No, he couldn't. The maid should be bringing Shen Hui here any moment. He'd better coax her into leaving first.
Ignoring the unconscious Jiang Wenxue beside him, Shen Lei smiled and lied to Jiang Nian without a hint of panic:
"Wenxue was tired, so I brought her to a guest room to rest."
"If you'd like to rest too, I'll take you to another room."
With that, Shen Lei walked to the door to usher her out, only to discover that someone seemed to have locked it. It wouldn't open at all.
He frowned and looked at Jiang Nian. "The door won't open. Fu Zhenzhen pushed you in here?"
Jiang Nian nodded.
"She shut the door after pushing me in. Why? Is the lock broken?"
Shen Lei tried turning the lock again, but the door still wouldn't open.
He answered Jiang Nian in a low voice, "It's locked. I can't open it."
Had Fu Zhenzhen locked it? He didn't have a key. Would he have to wait for that maid to open the door? But then Jiang Nian would see Shen Hui being hauled in. Wouldn't that expose his plan?
His eyes darkened as he glanced at Jiang Nian, who was staring forlornly at the lock.
Since you've ruined my plan, you'll just have to be my next pawn.
If Shen Hui violated both the Jiang Family's young lady and his younger brother's girlfriend, no one would be able to save him.
Shen Lei slowly slipped his hand into his pocket. Just as he was about to take out the handkerchief and knock Jiang Nian out, his body suddenly felt as though it were burning, and his head grew foggy.
Feeling the heat surging through his body, Shen Lei's expression changed in alarm.
Something was wrong. He'd been drugged!
As he looked at Jiang Nian before him, his reason gradually crumbled and his mind grew hazy, leaving only a little basic reasoning and a primitive sense of arousal.
If he slept with Jiang Nian, wouldn't that give him a way into the Jiang Family? She was their only daughter, after all. Once he'd fucked her, they'd have to let her marry him whether they wanted to or not!
At that thought, he gave a lecherous grin and slowly approached Jiang Nian.

Watching Shen Lei approach with a sinister grin, Jiang Nian quietly backed away a few steps, her voice trembling:
"W-what are you going to do?"
Shen Lei licked his lips excitedly as he watched the frightened Jiang Nian.
"What do you think I'm going to do?"
"Jiang Nian, just give in. I'll treat you well."
With that, he suddenly lunged at her.
"Ah!"
Jiang Nian twisted out of his way and stared at him in disbelief. "Shen Lei, have you lost your mind? This is rape!"
As though he hadn't heard her, Shen Lei lunged at her again:
"I'm Shen Qifei's son, the heir to the Shen Family. If you become mine, wouldn't it be wonderful for our two powerful families to join forces?"
Jiang Nian spat at him. "A bastard son who drove Shen Hui's mother to her death thinks he can inherit the Shen Family? Dream on!"
"Your girlfriend Jiang Wenxue is still lying on the bed, and you're fantasizing about making me yours? In your dreams!"
Shen Lei grabbed Jiang Nian as she darted around and pinned her hands.
"So what if I'm a bastard? After tonight, Shen Hui's reputation will be ruined, and I'll be able to take my rightful place in the Shen Family!"
Jiang Nian glared at him. "Shen Hui's reputation will be ruined? Bullshit! He's nothing like you!"
"Let me tell you, you're a rat in the gutter. You'll never measure up to Shen Hui!"
Shen Lei didn't get angry. Instead, he gripped Jiang Nian's chin and turned her face toward Jiang Wenxue on the bed. "See that?"
"Shen Hui will come here soon, see Wenxue lying on the bed, and lose control and do it."
"What do you think will happen if everyone finds out Shen Hui fucked his own younger brother's girlfriend at Grandpa's birthday banquet?"
Jiang Nian went pale and protested, "Shen Hui would never do something like that!"
Shen Lei shrugged indifferently, studying Jiang Nian's face with relish. "He wouldn't, but what if he'd been drugged..."
Realization dawned on Jiang Nian, and she glared at Shen Lei through gritted teeth. "So you drugged him? You despicable, shameless bastard!"
Shen Lei laughed heartily, as though she had complimented him.
"A real man has to be ruthless. I'm just teaching him a little lesson."
"All these years, why did he get to live in wealth and luxury with the Shen Family while Mom and I could only hole up in a little villa, branded a mistress and a bastard?"
His shameless words made Jiang Nian laugh in anger.
"Your mother knowingly became a mistress, and you think she was justified? When you schemed to drive Shen Hui's mother to her death, didn't you feel sorry for him?"
Shen Lei was utterly cold and heartless. "They had only themselves to blame for taking the places that belonged to Mom and me!"
Done arguing with Jiang Nian, he took out the handkerchief and tried to press it over her face, but Jiang Nian raised her leg and kicked him straight in the balls.
"Aah!"
That was the sound of balls cracking.
Shen Lei's face twisted in agony. He clutched his crotch with both hands, cold sweat pouring down his forehead. Even his mind seemed to clear for an instant.
"Jiang Nian, you!"
Jiang Nian ignored him and seized the opportunity to run straight to the window.
She had already checked. This was the second floor, so it wasn't too high, and there was a large tree outside the window. She should be able to use its branches to get down.
She flung open the window and, ignoring Shen Lei's hand reaching to stop her from behind, leaped onto the tree outside, then grabbed a branch and kept jumping down.
She landed safely with a thud, pulled a face at the livid Shen Lei in the window, then mussed up her hair and dress and ran straight toward the dining room.
