Gray mist seeped into Di Tian's right arm, into the blood vessels and nerves damaged by the Ice Law.
The ice shattered. Color returned to his bruised skin, and his frozen muscles began to move again.
Di Tian grunted and clenched his right fist, his knuckles cracking.
He raised his head, his eyes filled with dark fighting spirit.
Gray mist seeped into Layton's chest, flooding the charred hole pierced through him by Destructive Thunderclap.
The mist enveloped his shattered mechanical heart. Severed wires reconnected, and fallen metal plates flew up from the floor and slotted back into place.
Layton's body shook violently. Silvery magnetic light intertwined with the gray-white mist, crackling and hissing. He slowly stood, the new metal fingers growing from his severed wrist opening one by one, then closing again.
The two gravely wounded men were restored in an instant.
Inside the hall, everyone's expression changed. Svarog tightened his grip on the Great Axe, his gray-blue eyes turning grave for the first time. Angelina added another layer to her light shield, its golden radiance illuminating half the hall. Pope Pius I raised his scepter, its light gem shining at full brilliance and forcing the gray mist back beyond the entrance.
Shang withdrew his hand and nodded in satisfaction at his handiwork. Then he raised both hands and clapped them together.
Clap!
A sharp crack rang out. The instant his palms met, the entire Imperial Capital trembled.
The ground shook, the glazed roof tiles rattled, and the cups, plates, and bowls on the long table slid off and shattered across the floor.
The foreign delegates struggled to keep their footing. Some grabbed pillars, some collapsed to the floor, and others clung to the people beside them.
Then the alarms sounded.
Not just the alarms in the Human Emperor Hall.
