Background / History
Di Tian is the Human Emperor’s son and heir, cultivated as a vessel using the Immortal bloodline. According to Shang, the Mandala Society planted a seed deep within his soul on the day he was created. That seed shaped his courtesy, filial devotion, hostility toward Qi Wu, desire for power, and choices throughout his life 238.
The Human Emperor personally taught him reading, governance, and conduct. Di Tian excelled, and his father hoped he would assist the Child of Destiny in protecting the people of Great Xia 198.
Qi Wu’s Previous Life
In the history Qi Wu initially remembers, the Human Emperor died while covering humanity’s retreat during the battle for the Imperial Capital. Di Tian then became regent and led Great Xia against the Demons. Qi Wu once saw him standing on the ruined city’s walls in golden armor, sword in hand, calling his soldiers to fight to the death 178.
Discovering Di Tian’s conspiracy changes Qi Wu’s understanding of that history: the Emperor’s death and Di Tian’s accession were connected to a planned murder rather than an ordinary wartime succession 197 198.
Appearance
- Human appearance: A refined, middle-aged man with neatly combed hair, silver strands at his temples, and a gentle expression. His calm gaze conceals the sharpness of someone accustomed to authority 178.
- Usual clothing: A simple, elegant blue-green robe and a hair crown 178 212.
- Early transformation: His eyes become pale gold while he absorbs immortal power; full demonization produces scarlet eyes and black bone wings 238.
- Yangtze appearance: Black robes, red eyes, and long, billowing hair 246.
- Emperor-class Demon shell: Black-and-gold armor-like plates cover his body, with a projection of the Four Fiends Formation behind him 275.
- Reconstructed form: Fine dark-red markings spread across his body, supporting four pairs of translucent dark-red wing bones 291.
- Heaven-and-Earth Manifestation: A dark-red colossus over a hundred zhang tall, covered in flowing patterns and the phantoms of the four Fiend Beasts 294.
Personality
Di Tian initially presents himself as gentle, courteous, and dependable. His authority is restrained rather than openly oppressive, and he bows deeply when delivering the Human Emperor’s summons to Qi Wu. He maintains this respectful public image even after his conspiracy is underway 178 206.
He defends surrender as pragmatism, arguing that humanity cannot overcome an endless Demon tide with finite lives and power. He claims that accepting Mandala Society rule would preserve Great Xia’s people as an autonomous territory, even at the cost of its name and way of life. When his father rejects that position, Di Tian escalates from arguing for survival to declaring that Great Xia should burn 212 213.
As a Demon commander, he treats human unity as inefficient and Demons as evolution’s endpoint. Nevertheless, he remains an observant strategist: he concentrates his forces when the hunt for Qi Wu fails, adjusts his formation when its weaknesses are exposed, and retreats when continued fighting would favor his opponent 273 276 277 278 283.
Shang’s revelation complicates his apparent agency. Di Tian briefly apologizes to his father and says he never had a choice; the formation immediately consumes that moment of emotion. Later, his determination becomes explicitly self-destructive, with victory over Qi Wu taking priority over any personal cost 238 285.
Abilities & Skills
Immortal Power and Regeneration
- Absorbs the Human Emperor’s immortal essence to attain demigodhood 238 246.
- Repeatedly reshapes and repairs his body during a full day and night of fighting Qi Wu 247.
- Limit: His regeneration slows during the final colossal battle; shattered markings and accumulated injuries no longer recover promptly 295 296 297.
Demonic Laws and Causal Attacks
- Uses demonic laws to corrode Qi Wu during their Yangtze duel 247.
- At peak demigod strength, delivers attacks that impose a result without a conventional spreading force or warning 276.
- Warps causality, destroys the Meishan Barrier, and cuts the Northern Expedition Army’s communications and retreat routes 276.
- Counter: Qi Wu’s advanced spatial control can resist his suppression and redirect an attack away from the army 276 277.
Dark Divine Kingdom and Eternal Night Demon Kingdom
- Dark Divine Kingdom: A projection used against Qi Wu’s domains during their prolonged Yangtze battle 247.
- Eternal Night Demon Kingdom: His true domain engulfs the Yangtze, surrounding land, and nearby people, replacing the battlefield with demons, corpses, and a black sun 247.
- Counter: Qi Wu suppresses the projected Dark Divine Kingdom with Erlang’s divinity during the earlier exchanges 247.
Four Fiends Formation
Di Tian controls four complementary patterns that suppress attacks, perception, and technique construction 282.
| Fiend | Function | Documented effect |
|---|---|---|
| Taotie | Devouring | Consumes residual spiritual power and attack energy. It also learns the structure of Qi Wu’s blade 278 282. |
| Qiongqi | Damage rebound | Reverses attacks and reflects them along their trajectories 282. |
| Hundun | Causal disruption | Distorts spatial coordinates, direction, distance, and speed perception 282. |
| Taowu | Law severance | Interrupts connections between laws, delaying or suppressing Cursed Technique formation 282. |
- Energy supply: Human blood and flesh flow through the Imperial Capital’s blood pool and demonic tower into the formation 273.
- Adaptive operation: Di Tian replaces fixed, synchronized cycles with a shifting network and accelerates its moving intersection node 283 284.
- Synchronization weakness: Different-frequency attacks disrupt the patterns’ phase relationships and create periods when all four stop functioning 283.
- Predictable sequence: The moving node follows Taotie → Qiongqi → Hundun → Taowu. A roughly three-percent deviation during Taowu’s phase lets Qi Wu predict its position 284.
- Destruction: Boundless Myriad Phenomena dismantles its patterns through recursive information and rule-level slashes 284 285.
Four Fiends Annihilation
- Rebuilds the broken formation inside his body, using himself as its support 285.
- Launches a slow-moving, guaranteed-hit attack that infiltrates and replaces Qi Wu’s defensive domain 285.
- Forces Qi Wu to sustain a costly defense until the Heavenly Eye replenishes his spiritual power and helps dismantle the invading material 285 286.
Wing-Bone Structures and Combat Adaptation
- Uses formation-bearing wing bones to tear into Boundless Myriad Phenomena’s boundary 291 292.
- Studies brief instabilities during Qi Wu’s output-mode changes, recalibrating his structures to resist recursive information 292.
- Forms a shrinking hexahedron that compresses Qi Wu’s domain and briefly cancels its boundary at points of contact 292.
- Concentrates the wing markings across his torso when a broader structure becomes vulnerable 293.
Heaven-and-Earth Manifestation
- Transforms into a divine colossus, integrating Taotie into his left arm, Qiongqi into his right, Hundun into his spine, and Taowu into his legs 294.
- Uses punches, kicks, elbows, knees, grappling, and full-body charges to devastate the Imperial Capital’s structures 294 295.
- Compresses the Fiend Beast phantoms to increase density and striking power; ultimately channels his remaining strength into one decisive attack 295 296.
- Limits: Qi Wu’s colossus is faster, and Di Tian’s accumulated damage eventually weakens his output and collapses his manifestation 294 297 298.
Governance and Military Planning
- Uses imperial authority to transfer loyal Awakening-Tier generals and elite guards out of the capital under a plausible border-defense pretext 210.
- Arranges collaborators among two of Great Xia’s four major defensive-front commanders 197.
- Commands Demon troops and directs the Mandala Society’s strongest elders in the hunt for Qi Wu 273.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Poisoned shortsword — Used in the assassination attempt and subsequent fight against his father; corrosive power remains around its blade 210 217.
- Godslaying Poison — Administered to the Human Emperor through a ceremonial toast 210.
- Demon Emperor Sword — A rule-bearing weapon condensed from the sacrifice of over a hundred million lives. Its reverse runes devour light, and its attacks erase portions of reality 277.
- Thorn Throne — Located in his palace atop the Imperial Capital’s demonic tower 273.
- Soul Lamp monitoring — Yao Ye’s extinguished lamp alerts him that a key hunter has died, prompting him to recall the remaining elders 273.
Relationships
- Human Emperor — Father and source of his Immortal bloodline. Di Tian plots his murder and drains his power, but briefly apologizes after their manipulated relationship is exposed 198 238.
- Li Chen — Younger brother, who recognizes him immediately when he arrives at the Virtual Battlefield 148 178.
- Qi Wu — Initially treated as an honored guest; later his principal enemy. Di Tian dismisses his ability to save humanity, then comes to recognize his growth and combat skill 178 212 247 292.
- Shang — Mandala Society collaborator who heals and strengthens him, then reveals the Society’s manipulation of his life 214 217 238.
- Layton — Foreign co-conspirator. They coordinate an invasion and assassination in exchange for Di Tian becoming ruler of the new Great Xia 197 198 210.
- Hades — The power to whom Di Tian urges Qi Wu to submit. Di Tian’s life sustains the seal around Hades’s anchor, and his death provides the final coordinates for Hades’s descent 246 298.
- Mandala Society elders — Forces he deploys against Qi Wu and later recalls for a concentrated offensive after Yao Ye’s death 273.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Imperial Summons and Hidden Conspiracy
After Qi Wu defeats Xiao Tiance, Di Tian introduces himself and escorts him to the Human Emperor. He witnesses the recognition of Qi Wu as the Child of Destiny and is unsettled by the Emperor’s apparent intention to offer him succession 178 179.
Qi Wu later discovers Di Tian meeting Layton and a Demon beneath an abandoned warehouse. Their plan combines a naval invasion, compromised frontier commanders, and the Human Emperor’s assassination during the National Fortune Tournament 197 198.
Failed Coup and the Emperor’s Death
At the victory banquet, Di Tian poisons his father and attacks his back while Layton and a Demon strike from other directions. Qi Wu intervenes during stopped time, freezing Di Tian’s right arm and defeating the initial attack 210 211 212.
Di Tian argues for surrender, rejects his father’s refusal, and resumes the assault after Shang restores him. He claims his father must die because Great Xia cannot change while he remains its ruler 213 214 215.
The conflict culminates in Di Tian absorbing the Emperor’s immortal power. Shang exposes his engineered origins, and a brief father-son reconciliation is overwhelmed by the formation. The Human Emperor dies after entrusting Great Xia to Qi Wu 238.
Pursuit Across the Yangtze
Di Tian leads a vast Demon army after the fleeing population. Qi Wu remains behind so the refugees can cross the Yangtze, and the two fight above the river for a day and night without a decisive advantage. Di Tian escalates by opening Eternal Night Demon Kingdom 246 247.
Demon Rule and the Northern Expedition
From the occupied Imperial Capital, Di Tian oversees mass sacrifice to fuel the Four Fiends Formation. He states that his troops have sacrificed over a billion humans. When Yao Ye dies during the hunt for Qi Wu, he recalls the other four elders and launches an offensive before Qi Wu can become a god 273.
His attack devastates Great Xia’s vanguard and shatters the Meishan Barrier. Qi Wu counters his reality-altering power, damages the Demon Emperor Sword, and drains formation energy back against its own foundation. Di Tian withdraws, while Qi Wu orders the Northern Expedition toward the capital 275 276 277 278.
Formation Battles and Final Duel
Di Tian’s projection confronts Qi Wu with the Four Fiends Formation. When its patterns are dismantled, he compresses their remnants into an internal structure and uses Four Fiends Annihilation. The projection eventually disappears after saying, “Time’s up” 282 283 284 285 286.
His true body later reveals that the retreat and Ten Thousand Demons Return to the Void were preparation for absorbing the residual formation. The final duel progresses from adaptive wing-bone structures to matching Heaven-and-Earth Manifestations, then a destructive close-quarters battle across the capital’s ruins 291 292 293 294 295 296.
Defeat and Hades’s Descent
Qi Wu breaks through Di Tian’s Four Fiends-powered defenses and fatally pierces his chest. Di Tian acknowledges defeat but reveals the formation’s true function: it was a seal containing Hades’s anchor, not merely a summoning formation. His manifestation, markings, and Demon shell were components of that seal 298.
Di Tian’s death completes its destruction. He directs Qi Wu toward Kunlun before vanishing, leaving a thin dark-red marking extending northwest. Qi Wu then sees a vast black pillar rising from Kunlun Main Peak, signaling Hades’s impending descent 298.
