Their third brother was the family pig

Shen Banxia tucked into her breakfast with relish.

Life in a wealthy family really was different. Even breakfast was such a lavish spread, as though they were afraid you might have no appetite and be unable to eat.

Shen Banxia, however, had no trouble eating. Her problem was figuring out how to eat more.

If only enjoying delicious food were like enjoying juicy gossip, so she could keep going without ever getting too full.

"Morning, Seventh Sister!"

"Morning, Zhishan!" Shen Banxia mumbled through a mouthful of food.

She looked like a little pufferfish, adorably puffed up.

[Zhishan, you're going to get poisoned at the lab today!]

Shen Zhishan, who had just sat down, froze and stared at Seventh Sister in astonishment.

[Why are you looking at me? I'm not the one who's going to poison you!]

Shen Banxia stuffed another shrimp wonton into her mouth and met his gaze with an innocent expression.

Shen Zhishan picked up his coffee and took a sip, wondering whether he had been hearing things or had heard Seventh Sister's thoughts again.

[After Zhishan gets poisoned, they won't even be able to identify the poison at first. By the time they do and try to treat him, it'll be too late. He'll end up in a vegetative state and kick the bucket within a month.]

[What a waste of his genius!]

"Cough... cough..." Shen Zhishan promptly choked on his coffee.

"Zhishan, are you in a hurry?" Shen Banxia asked, blinking at him.

"No!" Shen Zhishan replied after catching his breath.

"Then drink slowly. No one's going to steal it!"

"..." Shen Zhishan was mortified.

"Are you going to the lab again today?" Shen Shuyi asked.

"I still have some data to organize. I should be done this morning," Shen Zhishan replied.

[You'll never make it back!]

Shen Zhishan's heart lurched.

Was Seventh Sister cursing him?

Just then, a dull crash came from the direction of the garage, startling them.

When they reached the garage, they saw the bodyguards pulling the third brother out of the driver's seat.

"Third Brother, what happened? Are you all right?" Shen Zhishan rushed forward and asked anxiously.

"I'm fine. The brakes just failed," Shen Shenxing replied, shaking his head.

"Did you hit anything? You'd better get checked at the hospital." Shen Shuyi looked worried too, pulling her son closer to examine him.

"Mom, I'm fine. I'd only just started moving. Look, even the airbag didn't deploy."

A moment later, he glanced at Seventh Sister. She had actually been right.

Thank goodness he hadn't gone out last night, or he would already be lying in the hospital, blind and with broken legs!

The thought sent a wave of lingering fear through Shen Shenxing.

The sight of the crumpled front end made Shen Shuyi's heart pound even harder. She insisted that her son go to the hospital for an examination and only go anywhere else once they confirmed he was fine.

"Mom, I really am fine-"

"Or we could have Doctor Liang come take a look," Shen Banxia "helpfully" suggested.

"I'll go to the hospital! Seventh Sister's coming with me!" Shen Shenxing immediately changed his mind and pulled her against his side.

Shen Banxia was squeezed so hard she nearly went cross-eyed. She finally pried herself away from her third brother and said,

"Have Zhishan go with you instead!"

[Even if Zhishan doesn't go with Shenxing, he'll be joining him at the hospital soon enough.]

In the end, Shen Jinyan, who had been about to leave, drove Shen Shenxing to the hospital for an examination. Only after promising their mother that he would make sure his younger brother completed every check did he persuade her not to come along.

"What's wrong with you this early in the morning? Did you drink too much yesterday and still haven't sobered up?" Shen Jinyan asked, glancing at his listless younger brother in the passenger seat.

"Drink, my ass. I spent all last night tutoring Seventh Sister!" Shen Shenxing snapped.

"I forgot!" Shen Jinyan laughed. "Tutoring her left you so resentful that you crashed before you even got out of the garage this morning."

Shen Shenxing rolled his eyes at his second brother.

"There's something wrong with the brakes.

"Luckily, I stayed home to tutor Seventh Sister last night.

"Otherwise, forget hitching a ride with you today. You'd be carrying a fruit basket to visit me in the hospital."

Then he reached over, switched off the dashcam, and asked his second brother,

"Have you noticed that Seventh Sister can predict a lot of things?"

Shen Jinyan glanced at his younger brother, then nodded.

Seventh Sister had warned him the last time he had nearly fallen into a honey trap. Otherwise, he would have been the one who became "famous" around the world.

"Wait, did you stay home last night because you heard Seventh Sister say something?" Shen Jinyan realized.

"Just as I was about to leave, I heard her say someone had tampered with my car, and I'd get into an accident, break my legs, and go blind!"

Shen Jinyan was startled.

"So you refused to believe it this morning, tried to drive out anyway, and crashed into the wall?"

Although Shen Shenxing hated to admit it, he eventually nodded.

He really had been holding out hope that morning, thinking Seventh Sister had made it all up to trick him into helping her study.

But just after stepping on the accelerator, he had tried the brakes on a whim, only to find they didn't respond at all. He hurriedly pulled the handbrake and brought the car to a stop against the wall. Since he had only just started moving and hadn't picked up speed, he had avoided a serious accident.

Even now, the thought still frightened him!

"From now on, whatever you hear Seventh Sister say, you'd better fucking do as she says!" Shen Jinyan barked sternly.

Although his younger brother usually got on his nerves, that was one thing. He certainly didn't want anything to happen to his own brother.

Shen Shenxing glanced at his second brother, deeply unconvinced, but in the end said nothing and turned to look out the window.

Normally, if Shen Jinyan spoke to him in that tone, he would definitely have argued back.

But today was different. He could at least recognize good intentions.

"You said someone tampered with your car. Who did it?" Shen Jinyan suddenly realized how serious this was.

If it was merely a mechanical problem, there was no need to make a fuss. But deliberate tampering was another matter entirely.

"I don't know!"

"If you don't know, investigate! Who have you offended, for instance?"

"I've offended a few people in business, but not enough for them to want me dead. I can't think of anyone who would want to hurt me right now."

"We can't just let this go. Have the dealership thoroughly inspect it and find out what went wrong. If necessary, get a new car.

"And check the dashcam footage and everyone you've been in contact with over the past couple of days. See if you can find anything," Shen Jinyan suggested.

"I've already thought of all that. It's just that the dashcam broke a couple of days ago, and I haven't had time to get it fixed!"

"..." Shen Jinyan was utterly exasperated. "And you call yourself the smartest person in our family. I think you're the family pig!"

"Fuck-" If Shen Jinyan hadn't been driving, Shen Shenxing would have beaten his face into a pig's head.
