After taking Shen Banxia to the teachers' office, Xu Mingyue returned to the classroom first.
Her reason was that, since it was Shen Banxia's first day after transferring, it would be better for the homeroom teacher to bring her to class and introduce her.
In truth, she simply didn't want to enter the classroom with Shen Banxia. If her classmates asked about it afterward, she wouldn't know how to explain.
When the bell rang, Shen Banxia followed the homeroom teacher into the classroom. An uproar of laughter greeted her, followed by a brazen sneer.
"Teacher Zhang, where did you pick up this piece of trash?"
Shen Banxia looked at the rude troublemaker sitting at the back, his hair dyed like a parrot's feathers.
This was her first time seeing a boy daring enough to dye his hair green. Impressive!
Xu Ziming was the notorious school bully at International High School. On the original owner's very first day at this school, he had led the others in bullying her, until eventually she couldn't help trembling whenever she heard his voice.
And Xu Mingyue, who had solemnly promised their parents that she would look after her, hadn't helped at all. Instead, she had egged them on and kicked her while she was down.
In the end, top student Pei Yu had found them too noisy and told them to stop, inadvertently rescuing her.
From then on, the original owner had fallen deeply for Pei Yu, nursing a secret crush on him.
She wouldn't let that happen. After all, romance would slow down her money-making far too much.
"This is our new transfer student, Shen Banxia. From now on, I hope you'll all help and learn from one another," Teacher Zhang introduced her calmly, long accustomed to this sort of behavior.
Then the teacher asked Shen Banxia to come up and introduce herself.
"Hello, everyone. My name is Shen Banxia. Banxia is a plant, as well as a medicinal herb. It can treat many illnesses, but it's also-poisonous!"
Shen Banxia stepped up and introduced herself with easy confidence. As she spoke the last sentence, her gaze settled on Xu Ziming.
Xu Ziming's eyes darkened. All his life, no one outside his family had dared look him straight in the eye, much less stare at him while making threats.
Sure enough, as soon as class ended, Xu Ziming walked over to Shen Banxia's desk and sat right on it, looking down at her with open provocation.
"You can't sit there," Shen Banxia reminded him evenly, raising her head.
"Well, I'm going to. What are you going to do about it?" Xu Ziming sneered, and the classmates who followed him everywhere laughed gleefully along with him.
"I can't do anything to you. I just wanted to remind you that I left the tissue I wiped my nose with on the desk. You sat on it."
"Huh?" Xu Ziming froze. Two seconds later, it finally sank in, and he sprang up. Sure enough, there was a flattened wad of tissue on the desk. Furious, he snapped, "You fucking tricked me!"
He reached out to hit Shen Banxia. The next second, the entire class heard a loud, clear clang, accompanied by a low howl from Xu Ziming.
His face flushed red with pain, and he blurted out,
"What the hell?"
"You hit my pan."
Shen Banxia calmly took a frying pan out of the bag she had held in front of herself, explaining with an innocent expression.
As she explained, she carefully inspected it.
"Oh no, you dented the bottom! You owe me a new pan. I need this to eat!"
Before leaving for school, she had deliberately swiped a handy frying pan from the kitchen for precisely this situation. She still had to return it after school. How was she supposed to do that now that it was dented?
Naturally, she had to make the culprit pay.
Everyone present froze.
Half of them marveled inwardly at how incredible their boss was. He had dented a frying pan with a single punch!
The other half were shocked that Shen Banxia was so poor she had to bring a pan to school to eat.
"You fucking-"
In pain and furious, Xu Ziming swore outright. This time, however, he had barely reached out before timidly pulling his hand back.
Shen Banxia had already raised the frying pan again, looking ready to defend herself.
How could that scene be described?
It was like Grey Wolf facing Red Wolf with her pan raised-both comical and utterly unexpected.
"Xu Mingyue, come help me!" Shen Banxia called to Xu Mingyue, who had deliberately slipped away as soon as class ended, thinking that by returning now, she could conveniently witness Shen Banxia being bullied.
Xu Mingyue froze, then flushed crimson and snapped,
"Shen Banxia, what are you doing?"
"He broke my pan! Hurry up and make him pay me!" Shen Banxia complained urgently, playing the victim before he could accuse her.
I'll fleece you for all you're worth!
Let's see if you dare bully the weak again!
"Xu Mingyue, who is she to you?" Xu Ziming's tone softened considerably when he addressed Xu Mingyue.
[So he really is one of Xu Mingyue's brainless fans. No wonder he ended up committing so many crimes for her.]
[Too bad Xu Mingyue stabbed him and pushed him into the sea to destroy the evidence. They never even found his body!]
[Disasters sent by heaven might be survived, but those you bring upon yourself will be your death!]
"She... she..." Xu Mingyue stammered for ages, having no idea how to explain her relationship with Shen Banxia.
She couldn't very well say that she wasn't the Shen Family's daughter at all, and that Shen Banxia was the real one.
Without her identity as the Seventh Young Miss of the Shen Family, she would be the one bullied at school instead of Shen Banxia.
"She's my older sister. She grew up in the countryside and was only brought back to the Shen Family yesterday. She transferred to our school today and isn't familiar with it yet, so please look after her."
Having finally figured out how to introduce her, Xu Mingyue straightened up and answered with a smile.
Shen Banxia's eyes darkened. That explanation glossed over the important details without leaving a single opening. Xu Mingyue certainly still had her wits about her.
But she wasn't in any hurry to expose Xu Mingyue's true colors. After all, when a cat played with a mouse, catching it immediately would spoil the fun. How else would she get to enjoy the drama at school?
Besides, with her current abilities, she still needed to keep a low profile. If Xu Mingyue clearly sensed a threat, she would definitely move against her at once.
That would mean putting herself in danger ahead of time. Who knew whether she could survive until the grand finale?
So she wouldn't take that risk for now.
She would wait until she had earned some money and exchanged it for enough combat power.
Meanwhile, Xu Ziming, who had just heard Shen Banxia's thoughts, remained rooted to the spot, utterly baffled.
"Hurry up and pay for my pan, so I don't have to ask your parents for the money," Shen Banxia urged.
Xu Ziming snapped back to his senses. Seeing this country bumpkin demanding compensation as though she were perfectly justified made him laugh in anger.
He had nearly broken his hand without managing to hurt her at all, and now she was threatening to go to his parents.
How could he possibly swallow that humiliation? Paying was even more out of the question.
If he paid, how would he ever show his face at International High School again?
If he didn't teach this country bumpkin a proper lesson, she really would mistake him for Hello Kitty.
Shen Banxia's goal wasn't merely to make him pay. She also wanted to use this incident to make Xu Ziming wary of her, so he wouldn't dare bully her again.
After all, even minor threats became annoying when there were enough of them.
"You're too loud. How much? I'll pay," Pei Yu said from the seat behind her, frowning.
[So this is what the legendary male lead looks like. Fine features, tall and elegant. He really is quite handsome.]
[Not as handsome as my brothers, though!]
Pei Yu paused. He thought he had just heard a strange voice.
"You think I can't afford it? Who needs you showing off?" Xu Ziming immediately bristled.
He had never liked Pei Yu, and now the guy was making his day even worse.
"How much?" Xu Ziming demanded, glaring at Shen Banxia.
"Ten thousand!" Shen Banxia replied without blushing or missing a beat.
A pan used by a top-tier wealthy household like the Shen Family couldn't possibly be cheap. Ten thousand sounded about right.
"Ten thousand? Is your damn pan inlaid with gold?" Xu Ziming snapped, his eyes widening.
