The next day.
Koichi and Saki Ikegami finally got to meet Gentildonna.
Compared to a big sister type like Vodka, Gentildonna looked much more normal.
But when it came to weight, she was certainly a good deal heavier than the two-year-old Golden Masterpiece.
Neigh!
Seeing strangers approach, Gentildonna let out a neigh.
Fortunately, her rider quickly held her back.
Gentildonna certainly couldn't be called good-tempered, but compared to Golden Masterpiece, she was in a completely different league.
"Do I need to put on protective gear for this?"
Koichi glanced around.
Gentildonna's trainer wasn't here this time. Her training assistant was here instead.
"That's up to you, Jockey Sasaki, but I'd recommend wearing it."
The training assistant didn't want anything to happen to Koichi either.
There were only a few days left before the race. If something suddenly happened to their jockey, they would have to scramble to find a replacement.
The Sunday Club had high hopes for this racehorse. After all, any offspring of Deep Impact producing results would be excellent news for them.
Northern Farm had an exceptionally strong pool of broodmares, so they could easily give Deep Impact more breeding opportunities.
That way, they could make a fortune selling horses.
"Sasaki, I think you should wear it. It's safer."
Saki Ikegami recommended it as well.
It was their first race of the new year, so caution was best. If he suddenly fell off a horse, he would need at least a couple of weeks to recover.
"All right, I'll go get it and be right back."
Koichi turned around to put on his gear.
He was already quite used to wearing protective gear, and its one advantage was that he could cover it with his outer clothes.
That also meant he didn't have to worry about freezing in
