The first day of racing ended, and Koichi successfully came away with three wins.
Koichi was quite pleased with that result. Winning three out of twelve races in a day was already a solid haul.
A few of the races had been regrettable near misses, but overall, things had gone well.
"You were in incredible form today, Sasaki."
Kenichi Ikezoe said that after the races ended.
He had been in good form himself, winning at least one race. To him, tomorrow's Derby was the biggest event of all.
After all, securing the ride on the fourth favorite in the Derby had been no easy feat, and Koichi was quite familiar with that horse.
"Well, I have to work hard for my 100th win. I have to say, though, today really wore me out. I was on edge the whole time."
Koichi stretched as he spoke.
He would definitely need a good rest when he got back tonight.
"You have to push yourself while you're young."
Yutaka Take spoke up after washing up.
By now, he had almost forgotten when he had earned his own 100th win.
Among these jockeys, he was naturally the one with the most victories.
"If you get your 100th win this time, Sasaki, I can hold up the sign for you, and we can have Mr. Take present you with the commemorative gift."
Kenichi Ikezoe said it with a smile.
That would make quite an impressive lineup.
"No problem. I'll present you with the gift when the time comes."
Yutaka Take smiled and nodded.
Koichi only needed a few more wins now. Given his form and the rides available to him, he would most likely reach the milestone tomorrow.
He could start making preparations in advance, too.
"Then I'll have to work even harder."
Koichi smiled
