After arriving at Longchamp Racecourse, Koichi picked up two wins on his first day.
Those victories owed much to his hard work. His performances in August had earned him some slightly better opportunities, and now that he had grown familiar with the rhythm here, his results would only improve.
On the second day, he won one race.
He still felt rather disappointed that he had failed to win the graded stakes over a thousand meters on the straight course.
He had never ridden in a Grade 3 stakes over a thousand meters before.
The shorter the distance, the greater the impact of the start. His horse had encountered a slight problem leaving the starting gate, and even while accelerating throughout the race, its speed had never quite reached the expected level.
"Impressive, Sasaki. Three wins this week."
Li Muhua spoke after the race.
As expected of a young man who had shown his talent right from his debut, Koichi Sasaki was visibly stronger in September after honing his skills through August.
Of course, Li Muhua had little to worry about. Koichi was only here for a month of practical experience, after all, and he could not get any particularly good horses.
Koichi Sasaki's main arena was still Japan.
"It went all right. I feel like I understand how things work here a little better now."
Koichi wiped his face with a hot towel.
Autumn was almost upon them, and France received an incredible amount of rain.
That also meant most races in September and October would go ahead as usual. As long as the rain was not especially heavy, racing would continue.
"Then keep at it over the next month. You might even get a ticket to the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe."
