That evening, at the hotel.
"Sasaki, what are you doing?"
Saki Ikegami, who was working, finally asked out of curiosity.
He had been sitting on the sofa for quite a while.
"I'm reviewing how I rode from the front in today's two-thousand-meter race, seeing if I can spot any problems."
Koichi set down his tablet and looked up.
He still had too little experience riding from the front. Now that he had done it in a race today, he could give it a proper review.
Watching other people's races and pacing did help him improve, but it still couldn't compare to reviewing his own race afterward and recalling the decisions he had made during it.
"Then keep at it. Your dinner will be here soon."
Saki smiled faintly, then checked the time.
Their meals over the past few days had all been specially planned.
"Since I'm working so hard, can I have something extra tasty tonight?"
Koichi winked at his agent.
"No. You still have races next year. You wouldn't want a warning, would you?"
Saki's expression grew a little more serious.
She certainly had to keep a close eye on this. He barely paid attention to his everyday diet, though fortunately, he had maintained his weight quite well.
"All right. Back to reviewing, then."
Koichi felt rather helpless.
To be honest, though, he had long since gotten used to eating this way.
Going over the weight limit really would earn him a warning from the authorities, and he would also be unable to compete that day.
Once the weekend's races were over, he could go back to eating what he wanted.
"Just stick it out for tomorrow. I'll treat you to something good tomorrow evening."
Saki still gave Koichi a little motivation.
She happened to have found another promising
