After entering the straight, Gentildonna and Gold Ship moved onto the same line.
Koichi also wanted to keep squeezing Gentildonna's running room.
The original front-runner occupied the innermost lane, with Noda Shiin a little farther out.
So if Koichi could accelerate and squeeze Gentildonna beside him, she would have a hard time breaking through.
But things did not go as Koichi had imagined.

As they accelerated along the same line, Lady bumped straight into Gold Ship.
After all, racehorses could not run perfectly straight either.
Unfortunately, the collision had little effect on Gold Ship.

No matter how you looked at it, Gentildonna was clearly much smaller than Gold Ship. Knocking Gold Ship off balance was practically impossible.

The battle on the inside was still rather fierce.
Yutaka Take did the same, using the turn to move straight to the outside.
Breaking through on the inside was virtually impossible.

Koichi glanced over out of the corner of his eye, then pushed forward harder.
The whip in his hand began spinning rapidly as well.
He wanted to see just how long Gentildonna could stick with Gold Ship.
