The afternoon of race day.
"Looks like everyone is taking this afternoon's race very seriously. The stands are completely packed."
"Of course they are. This is the first crown for three-year-old Racehorses, the starting point of every racing dream."
Seeing the crowds thronging the Viewing Stand, the commentators began their work for the day.
The last undefeated Triple Crown Winner was still fresh in everyone's memory.
In all these years, there had only been six Triple Crown Winners.
"Our cameras have now reached the Parade Ring. Judging by the Racehorses, they're all in excellent condition today."
Since all the runners were three-year-olds, their physical development was roughly on par.
The only potential differences came down to each Racehorse's individual issues.
"I didn't expect the first Racehorse on camera to be our Tyrant-Golden Masterpiece."
"It's rather a shame for Golden Masterpiece. Despite that outstanding performance at Hanshin, some earlier issues have kept the betting support fairly low this time."
"That's a perfectly reasonable view, really. After all, Golden Masterpiece has hardly raced on left-handed courses. The question is how well the team has prepared."
Golden Masterpiece had drawn gate twelve and was the fifth favorite.
Much of that support had come from Yutaka Take's earlier interview.
"Before this, jockey Yutaka Take apparently threw down a challenge to our rookie jockey, Sasaki."
"We're very curious to see how Jockey Sasaki will respond."
"I have to say, although Sasaki is a rookie, he's remarkably good at seizing opportunities. He also has an excellent understanding of Golden Masterpiece's limits."
"Oh, it looks like you've really done your homework this time."
The other commentator sounded a little surprised.
Of course, their back-and-forth was just for the broadcast. Both had already finished their research beforehand.
They then began discussing the favorite, Swiss Watch.
