Ayano Aoe looked at the two legendary racehorses and smiled.
This wasn't something you could see at a stallion showcase.

Koichi paused in surprise.
Both racehorses really did have good temperaments.
Especially now that they were older, they had mellowed considerably.
"The Emperor's son-doesn't that make him the Prince?"
Ayano Aoe explained.
Tokai Teio certainly lived up to that nickname. Videos of his imperial dance steps were circulating online now, too.
Mejiro McQueen, who had once lived next door to Tokai Teio, was gone, but Ayano could still see traces of him in Gold Ship.
"Come on. There are plenty more racehorses up ahead."

Before leaving, Koichi glanced back at Tokai Teio and Deep Impact, who were greeting each other.
This visit to Shadai Farm had certainly been worthwhile.
"Over there is Symboli Kris S. He was imported directly from overseas."
After they had walked a little farther, Ayano Aoe began introducing the next horse to Koichi.
This horse had achieved outstanding results in Japanese racing, and expectations had been high from his very first year at stud.

Koichi hadn't expected to come across Symboli Kris S so soon.
The horse he had his eye on at this auction was, of course, one of Symboli Kris S's offspring. He just didn't know whether the bidding would go more smoothly this time.
If it came down to it, he would have to borrow a little more from Ayano Aoe.
